I'm annoyed with myself, due to my own stupidity. I went to buy my tax disc yesterday at the PO and was asked for my MOT. For some reason, I was convinced that my car was first registered in May 2011 and didn't expect that I needed an MOT until next month. Upon checking, I discovered that it was registered in March 2011. I have been driving around for the last two months, without an MOT.

Quick visit to the garage this morning and MOT passed. I won't be making that mistake again!

I've had that problem a couple of times, it sort of comes as a bit of a shock when you realise. The benefit you now have, is that when you get your next tax disc reminder, you'll know your MOT is due (if you got a 12 month disc). Which works quite well as it gives you about a month from the tax disc reminder to get it sorted...

Don't they? I'm damned sure my missus got one in January. Mine's due at the end of May, and I've not had one, so I don't know.

Not as far as I know. Perhaps the garage you get it done in might, mine doesn't.

I guess the Tax Disc reminder will tell you when the car is due it's first MOT (I think) but of course that depends on it all being in sync....

You can pay £1.50 to receive an MOT reminder text. Surely it would be beneficial to take an email address and receive an automated reminder. Obviously all of those paying £1.50 make it financially worthwhile for them not to implement such an obvious benefit. Not that I am blaming anyone else for my own blatant stupidity.

That is an abomination in any language. Those who built it should have been, at the least, sent to coventry. The purchasers for the retail outlet should have been put in the stocks. Whoever bought it (if anyone actually did) should undergo a section review.
