Day off .... on a Sunday ... ??? I don't understand religion any more.
Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.
"I understand you are a very good footballer" ... "I try".

this is the spot where there was a massive canal breach and the whole thing drained off down the valley in the winter of 2012...

this is what it looked like back then...

Bloody hell, yes. I remember that. Matey boy and I were chatting over the Easter break and it transpired that we'd both (a) like to tour French vineyards, and (b) would like to do a boat tour. As such, we're now trying to see if we can tour French vineyards on a boat?!

Spent last night at the Ritz in Manchester to watch The Rifles. We've seen em several times before but this was them at their best. Dont know if it was the venue or whatever but it was absolutely jumping in there. Came out about half a stone lighter and covered in beer but loved it :D

That's probably the sprung dancefloor! Great venue, was there for Alkaline Trio a couple of weeks ago but they weren't up to much unfortunately.

I'm going to arrange a forum trip for the next time SLF play there. There is no finer venue for them or their ilk.

Paris was good. Surprise went down well. impressed with the eurostar. unfortunately it turned out to be Labour Day in France so everything was shut, it was also pouring down meaning the few restaurants around La Marais that were open were crammed full. We did eventually get a table in one typically Parisienne brasserie where we gorged on wine & cheese ordering blindly from the menu., which was pretty much my main objective so turned out well. we made our way from Gar Nord to the Pont Alexandre and wandered along the river bank to Notre Dame then headed into La Marais. afterwards we walked up to Republique and got the Metro back to the Gar Nord. arrived back at St Pancras at 18:30 and were homeward on the 19:00 out of Euston. so well pleased with the synchronicity especially with us being fairly pissed! was a good day.

would definitely like return for a bit longer...

Didn't twig it was 1st of May. I had a great time going along the march when that was on (apart from getting tear-gassed, top tip: don't get tear-gassed), but guessing you didn't quite catch it unless you saw it at Notre Dame?

Glad you had a good time, and sounds like you made wise choices!

Paris Metro was a shock mind; the trains are alright and the network simple enough to figure out, but the stations are the pits!! dark dingy damp dens of depravity.

They cheat - they aren't really trains - they run on rubber wheels.

The Railway, Bromley Cross to see a Purson gig. Recommended by a mate, they sound really interesting from what I've read and hear on Spotify.
