Re: The Politics Thread
I don't think we will have a BNP. candidate down here, I presume there is one in Bolton as they always have concentrated on the north west. If Adam Angry is standing for the BNP then I guess that is who I will vote for. So hopefully instead the BNP will pick John Smith as there candidate for Bolton north and then I can vote for someone a little more sensible. However you haven't prescribed the idea that abbey Anderson might stand for any of the other parties.
The above post is complete bollox/garbage/nonsense, please point this out to me at any and every occasion possible.

From memory it was candidates last name, candidates first name, party. Or it might have been the party first I'm not sure

if this is your attitude - then better you don't bother, dan...
Re: The Politics Thread
or it might be party, first name, last name. Yeah, hopefully we will have the lowest turn out ever with less than half the electorate voting. every party leader went to private school and has absolutely no idea what 99.9% of people in this country think nor how they live their lives. I think you right Bish, its not worth the hassle.

Re: The Politics Thread
with a very low turnout - people voting randomly as you propose has a bigger effect on the result... and given you don't appear to care who it is that you give disproportionate support to - then best not to give it at all as it might turn out to be the BNP.bwfcdan94 wrote:or it might be party, first name, last name. to be the lowest turnout ever we are looking at a whole lot less than 50% - 50% would be a HUGE turnout...
Re: The Politics Thread
The lowest ever is 55% for national elections.

Re: The Politics Thread
do you mean "general" election? if so - the election under discussion is not a general election - that's still a year off...bwfcdan94 wrote:The lowest ever is 55% for national elections.

My idea of there being an entrance exam prior to being allowed to vote is borne out in spades here. Dan: too thick to tick!Lost Leopard Spot wrote:This ^ is one of the reasons why democracy isn't all it's cracked up to be. ( Not saying dictatorship is better, but at least you know where you stand.)

Re: The Politics Thread
I said on here a while ago to some dissenting views that I thought Labour had lost the argument on the economy due to Dan's view (above) being a widely held belief. With Ed the unelectable in charge as well, can anyone see anything other than a Tory victory in 2015?bwfcdan94 wrote:In my short span of being politically aware(say since I was 13) 1 party has caused the biggest most awful financial disaster this country has ever had, another party has done its very best to starve the working class's while a 3rd who pretend to be central suddenly jump ship and join the tory toffs. Now we are left with a party both racist and upper class and all the while I ask myself what's the point. I will probably just end up for voting for the person who's name if first in alphabetical order like I did in the local elections.

Re: The Politics Thread
The value in politics of saying the same thing over-and-over again until it becomes accepted as truth, even if it's total bollocks.
Firstly, Labour didn't cause the global economic crash. Not unless they were secretly dealing in the American sub-prime mortgage market.
What they did do was allow our financial sector to get up to its eyeballs in it without really knowing what was going on. They did this by pursuing policies of self-regulation which the Tories, the people saying that Labour f*cked us over, said weren't lax enough.
How they've not managed to make headway on 'yeah we f*cked up but they'd have f*cked up way, way worse' I don't know. Instead they've just tried to ignore it, hope everyone will blame Brown who isn't there anymore and so allowed the Tories to make the (not unreasonable) point that the last Labour govt f*cked up on the economy and then the completely f*cking unreasonable point that the Tories would have been/ would be better!

So I could easily rhyme something with 'crossers' just for you two, if you like. The caps fit.
