A quick scan shows that Pru already knew this but I have just discovered that Tranmere got relegated to Division 2.

I thought the same but then I guess Van Gaal is done and dusted....

What must be really upsetting for Southampton fans is that their brilliant academy developing players is once again going to make the club a huge profit but they'll lose the service of the player they've developed.

Lallana is also supposedly off to Liverpool.

Down the years they've lost the likes of Bale and Walcott and Oxlade Chamberlain. Ok those players all were sold when they needed money and were outside the top flight.

But to now be selling off their best home grown assets having reached 8th in the top flight must stick in the throat a bit.

Great return on investment but as a fan it must be sickening.

Yeah. Though they are the biggest club down there and thus have a huge catchment area. Lallana was picked up as a 12 year old from Bournemouth's youths.

Effectively they can cherry pick. Makes it considerably easier.

Still very impressive though.

Right, I'm confused (yes, yes). I'm reading that Spurs, who finished 6th, have qualified for the Waffa Cup. However, any league table I look at states this;

Uefa Champions League: 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th
Europa League: 5th
Relegation: 18th, 19th, 20th

No mention of coming 6th.

Usually a place from one of the cups goes to 6th if the winner of said cup finishes in the top 4/5. I think runner up in the FA Cup gets the spot, so presumably the coca cola/Rumbelows/Milk Cup or whatever it's called these days..

Yep. Were the FA cup final say Arsenal vs Liverpool then it would have gone down a place further still to 7th.

Cheers - I didn't know that either.

Sorry, I know I'm a real div when it comes to this stuff, but do Hull qualify for the Europa League regardless as to how they get on in the final then?

Yep FA Cup runners up qualify for the UEFA cup IF the winner finishes in the top 4 and qualifies for the champs league.

League cup runners up don't qualify in any circumstances and should the winner be a top 4 side that position always goes to 6th in the league.

Should both FA cup finalists be in the top 4 then the poisition goes to 7th place. I think we benefitted from that on our second qualification.

went bankrupt once cos they didnt / couldnt pay their stadium off . its easy 'developing youth players' when you've no mortgage to pay, and live in a house you got for free.

still dont see why roy thinks theyre all 'international class'

we carnt even build a place for our youth in the town coz nimby bastards in newbuilds dont like the floodlights being too bright or their view spoiled.

just put the tip back.

Surely it's easier to bring in the ready-made article if you've no mortgage to pay. In fact, having a mortgage to pay means you're more likely to be dependent on bringing your own kids through, No?

For years they have been nicking Reading's reject's. A lad I know went for a trial at Reading failed but then ended up at Southampton. Drink was his downfall though sadly.
The above post is complete bollox/garbage/nonsense, please point this out to me at any and every occasion possible.
