New season, clean slate. Let's give him at least 5 games to decide whether to round up the torches and pitchforks. He's made decent start in terms of acquisitions. Still needs a couple of strikers though
Pfffft.

He'd be far better off patting himself on the back by results, not self-printed diplomas and self-serving interviews. What's behind is behind and the only way he'll convince me of anything is by improvement and putting Bolton Wanderes back where they belong in the respect stakes. Right now all he seems to have done is turned to a new blank page in the notebook. Pretty much anybody can do that.
This approach is fine if you have the luxury of a clean slate but very few managers do. Good ones can exploit the strengths and talents in the squad with flexibility. That's clearly not the Dougie way. If it works hats off to the guy, but if his new bunch of good eggs (yes men?) don't start winning early then the club should not hesitate to send him off to educate someone else's fans.
Its what I have heard as well, earlier in the season though, when I mentioned about Eagles being trouble. I wonder if we have the same source?
If he cannot work with experienced pros or cannot adapt to do so, his managerial career his going to be short as wherever he goes, he will have to deal with players who are already at a club.

Same story came out of Newcastle when Allardyce was there, couldn't manage senior pros who didn't do what he wanted them to.LeverEnd wrote:I suspect (and have been told by someone far more ITK than me) that he wants every player to be a blank page. Re: Freedman out!
It's the nature of a management & coaching pricess called NLP. Neuro Linguistic Programming ... I ask you !! That was the foundation of Allardyce's system and, for a comparison, the whole New Labour concept. A lot of business took it up and many later dropped it due to its divisiveness.
A person is deconstructed, made to analyse their actions and to break them down and then improve each element. In extremis it's a bit like "born again" stuff. Creates real zealots disturbing system. To be avoided in business if you can. Moonie-Management really. Creates cliques and a high stress option.

Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

It's a very extreme and unforgiving scheme which demands people buy in utterly and if you don't you're toast. It worked for BFSA and it worked for Blair .... but it damages people. Maybe that's the way to go forward.jaffka wrote:So in summary Duggie is old hat, trying to repeat stuff at doesnt work. Not surprising really.
I hope not though.

Very small pool of players that are of the required standard that we can attract.bobo the clown wrote:It's a very extreme and unforgiving scheme which demands people buy in utterly and if you don't you're toast. Reduced even more by not being able to buy into the managers theory.
We are going no where under him.
Stagnant or relegation on the cards.

How have you arrived at the conclusion that either Allardyce or Labour used it? Are there any references to them using it?bobo the clown wrote:It's a very extreme and unforgiving scheme which demands people buy in utterly and if you don't you're toast. Re: Freedman out!
No-one has suggested he's actually using NLP have they (or the other two for that matter)? Coz that would fecking swing it for me!
I've no time for any players who don't 'buy into' what the manager says though, even if it is bollocks.

So we have some people that get others "on-side", using the power of persuasion, therefore there's mysterious forces at work.
How unnatural.
That sort of describes every person I've ever met. Some are better at it than others.

I figured there'd be bogeymen in it somewhere.
Let's all shout "witch" and see who believes it.

Re: Freedman out!
this thread just surpassed itself...
the implication that Dougie has instigated some kind of Neuro-Linguistic-Programming scheme at the club?
really??
I mean, really??????

That's what he describes ... wanting "clean slates" upon which he can build and needing willing oarticipants and thise who don't sign up are exiled. Yes. It's a well practiced, high level coaching technique. I don't even see it as odd, just not my cuppa.

Re: Freedman out!
I guess the bit I'm missing here, is that to me, that's just "management".
Generally when a new manager comes in, in any line of business, they start from not knowing any fcuker, so they see how it goes for a bit.
They generally then set out their plan.
Some folks don't like it. They get shifted, especially if they're overtly or covertly try to derail the plan.
I don't think that's NLP, I think that's gone on since before NLP became a pseudo "science".
Hardly sinister.

Re: Freedman out!
Some bloke down the pub told me Ferguson was the master of this here NLP and he had it on good authority it takes about three and a half years to kick in.
He also said Clough knew feck all about it and as such did well to last the full 44 days.
I think it's bollocks myself. I much prefer managers that allow everyone to do as they like.
