No, Dan. You're on a level of sadness that only you inhabit.bwfcdan94 wrote:Unless your sad enough to take the days as holiday like myself.

Re: Pre season friendlies at Macc, Preston, Tranmere and Dal
I have 12 + bank holiday's for the remainder of this calendar year, unless we go on an epic cup run I will be fine. I am only doing midweek away games.
The above post is complete bollox/garbage/nonsense, please point this out to me at any and every occasion possible.
Re: Pre season friendlies at Macc, Preston, Tranmere and Dal
At most there will be 13 midweek game including Rochdale and Tranmere, assuming we win every cup game. Now what are the chances of every one of those being away games that aren't within an 2 hours commutable distance from Wokingham(Wokingham is about 1 hour from London Paddington by train). I may wait until the fixtures are announced but I honestly cannot see a realistic situation where it will be a problem unless I am desperately needed in the office that day, which is unlikely as I am the most junior employee.

Re: Pre season friendlies at Macc, Preston, Tranmere and Dal
There is also a direct train from Wokingham to Brentford and Putney(which is 20 mins walk from Fulham's ground). So there is at least 3 places I can get to midweek without taking any holiday.

You're optimistic, Dan. In my experience the most junior is normally guaranteed to be most desperately needed.

Don't try to be a great man. Just be a man and let history make up its own mind.

Even so I would think they would much prefer an employee who is going to miss the odd Tuesday than one who is going to take a 2 weeks block holiday.

Someone taking regular one day here one day there will p them off rather a lot.
Those who, one way or another seem to rarely put a full week in are not usually allowed to. Further, you need to ... as I said a few days ago ... buckle down. Watching Bolton is all well & good but you need some balance.
Seriously, do what the fck you want .... but if you want these people to take you seriously you need to think about a few things.
That's the lot. No more advice from me.
Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

So are you saying not to take the holidays they offer to me?

Of course not. I'm saying take them in a normal way. There will probably be rules anyway.bwfcdan94 wrote:So are you saying not to take the holidays they offer to me?
At least one full week will need to be taken. Maybe even a fortnight.
Taking 10 or 15 odd days is not a pattern they'll be likely to tolerate.
You can't keep being spoon-fed advice. The Company will have people who can advise you. Listen to their advice. If at this early stage your whole focus is whether you can get up to Macclesfield for a mid-week pre-season friendly then I despair.

Re: Pre season friendlies at Macc, Preston, Tranmere and Dal
Fair enough, they gave me a long booklet and under the holiday section it says "we encourage our employees to take there holiday, however holiday must be booked a month in advance and no more than 2 weeks can be taken at a time". They are only a small business who employ 40 people, I was of the understanding that to a small business it would cause more problems if somebody was not in for a whole 2 week block then if somebody just took the odd Tuesday here and there with relevant warning, although maybe I am wrong. The reason I concentrate so much on football so much Hoboh is that I as of 3 weeks time will be living in a village with a population of less than 3000, over 1/4 of whom are pensioners which has 1 corner shop and 2 pubs, it has absolutely no public transport on Sundays and a limited bus service into Wokingham (which is 4 miles away) the rest of the week. It is not somewhere I want to live but having a job means it's essential I live local, I will be living over 100 miles away from any of my family and all my other friends who live reasonably locally will have gone to Uni If it wasn't for football and the friends I have through going to watch Bolton play then what would be the point in anything, I look forward to football games as I have f**k all else to do when not at work. Keep in mind I don't have a car either.bobo the clown wrote:Of course not. I'm saying take them in a normal way. Thank you none the less for the advice Hoboh. I did actually ask to start earlier in the morning, even if unpaid for the extra time, to show that I am keen but they said no.

Sort stuff out for yourself and stop keep coming on here expecting people to mollycoddle you through life.

I think calling him Hoboh won't help matters!bwfcdan94 wrote:Thank you none the less for the advice Hoboh. I did actually ask to start earlier in the morning, even if unpaid for the extra time, to show that I am keen but they said no.
Junior or not you'll be damned important Dan. Them brews won't make themselves you know

Play it by ear lad. If you work hard and they like you, I'm sure they'll have no problem, indeed they might find it quite charming, that you use your leave to attend meaningless Bolton matches

Re: Pre season friendlies at Macc, Preston, Tranmere and Dal
Well most of the office are football fans, infact the boss took half the office to a championship game recently. I would think I will have a little more challenging duties than making a cup of tea(like making coffee, which I am shit at), I think addressing the correct poster would also be helpful (apologises Bobo). I am not expecting anybody to moddycoddle me, infact I have been brought up far from that, it is just given that several of you have worked in offices for donkeys I would thought I would seek some advice. As I have stated I have asked to do extra hours unpaid infact as long as it didn't affect my ability to watch football I would be happy to work 12 hours a day even if only getting paid for the 9. I will apply myself with the usual attitude of giving it my all and if I don't succeed I will know it's through lack of ability rather than lack of trying.

Always leave your desk carrying a piece of paper and looking like you're in a bit of a rush. That way people will think you're doing something important, when you go forra morning dump for 30 mins.
