I'll have you know that Shouty Man is one of my favourite avatars.Worthy4England wrote:After a couple of days walking to school with number one son, coz the missus is poorly, today I met "Shouty man with dog". Shouty man appears to be fairly well known to the general populace (other than me). His object this morning was a woman trying to turn right, across the traffic, coming out of a side road garage. He heads into the garage of a morning to pick up the paper.
By the time I arrived at the scene he was already of a kerfuffle. "Stupid bitch. Why's she trying to turn right. I've been waiting there 15 minutes."
Well you'd been waiting less than two, but a fair point Shouty Man, it is tough turning right there at 8:30 in the morning. Kudos. Carry on Screaming.

Thought he might have been. You'd have been playing with fire: woman turning right and passing e-cigger! He'd most probably have turned puce and exploded...Worthy4England wrote:Thought he might have been. Of course we all knew about the civilians because Spotty told us a week ago.Beefheart wrote:There were some really interesting interviews about D-Day on Radio 2 this morning, a mix of veterans, historians and even a meteorologist. The format made it seem a bit partridge-esque though:

I've spent most of the afternoon sawing felled tree trunks into fireside lengths. Only problem is it's 50/50 between ash and buddleia (how does one spell buddleia, what? That looks wrong). Anyfuckinway, however it's spelled, and as I'm only half way through sawing, and because I know ash burns brilliantly, does buddleia burn well, or should I save energy and drag into t'woods.

Saw as much of your own as you can. Yesterday, wife popped into Home Bargains while I waited outsaide with the dog. Idly checking on a few display items I did a doube, than a treble take at seeing half-a dozen small firewood logs in a plastic bag. £3-99. Money to burn? It ain't in it.Lost Leopard Spot wrote:I've spent most of the afternoon sawing felled tree trunks into fireside lengths. It may depend on the type of budd... Buddleja Asiatica is used as firewood in Nepal I read, but other kinds are just kindling. You should leave it for a year after it is cut.Lost Leopard Spot wrote:I've spent most of the afternoon sawing felled tree trunks into fireside lengths. Re: General Chit Chat
Well unfortunately TD, don't bother with buddleia... The ash is kicking up a storm, I've got flames out of the top of the chiminea. I added one poxy buddleia log and I might as well have had the entire New York Fire Department out on a rememember 9/11 night pissing in concert. I've never seen flames retreat as rapidly. I think concrete might burn more quickly... All that feckin effort.TANGODANCER wrote:Saw as much of your own as you can. A year? It's leaving tomorrow, it has a bed it can rot in far from the madding crowd. Begone, shite fuel.Montreal Wanderer wrote:It may depend on the type of budd... It is indeed, but it comes as something of a surprise being as a couple of weeks ago they were reporting no signs of improvement whatsoever.Gary the Enfield wrote:Bruce Rioja wrote:Schumacher's out of his coma and has been transferred home apparently.

No. It's still great news.
Re: General Chit Chat
I'm not too sure if he's not out of a coma, but now diagnosed with locked in syndrome. That's not an improvement. God willing he's on the mend.

Re: General Chit Chat
The coma was medically induced and the family now say he is out of it. I think this is great news though there is still a long way to go. I confess I disliked him when he was driving - I regret this now a bit.Bijou Bob wrote:I'm not too sure if he's not out of a coma, but now diagnosed with locked in syndrome. Re: General Chit Chat
I think we need to wait to see if he's a drooling idiot before any celebrations take place. I know, I'm repeating myself, but I know from bitter bitter experience that a cousin of mine recovered from a long coma. I speak for the entire family bar one when I say it would have been better if he'd never come out of the coma. Personally, I'd go one further and think it'd have been a happier outcome if he'd died in the accident. Coming out of a coma is a little too wide ranging a definition before joy can be attributed to it in my opinionMontreal Wanderer wrote:The coma was medically induced and the family now say he is out of it. Re: General Chit Chat
Pleasing indeed but, like others have mentioned, until we know what's going on I'll keep the champers on ice.
A chap I worked for a few years ago had a stroke which left him incommunicado. I cannot think of anything much worse than that. He lasted for about two years before a heart attack let him go.

Got these rather lovely drinks coasters as part of a leaving gift from a grateful church... now I just need to clear enough space on my desk to accomodate one!
