Nixon saying there are 5 clubs in for The Juke. Derby are the only one to table a bid of £1m. I hope we are looking down the back of the sofa now now.
When does the window open? Is it 1st July?

Although, in England, the transfer window formally opens on 1 July, transfers between clubs in the same association can take place as soon as the last competitive fixtures for the season have been played. However, many transfers will not be completed until 1 July because many players' contracts expire on 30 June.

So there is no need to wait for the transfer window to open before making a bid. I hope we can rustle up the money because he was one of the few positive things to come out of last season.Bruce Rioja wrote:Nabbed off of Wiki;malcd1 wrote:Nixon saying there are 5 clubs in for The Juke. Sordell going to Burnley apparently.
Derby and Wigan in for Jutkiewicz. I fear another season where we start without the requisite quality up front.

Can't make it up. He's homesick thus moving further north? All it needs now is for him to get 30 goals in the season.

Don't try to be a great man. Just be a man and let history make up its own mind.

Lacking up front? Lacking schmup front!
Who cares? Our midfield is so good for it to not matter - we have the blinding pace of Feeney, Creativity's Neil Danns and our midfield general Darren Pratley - a man who is, effectively, a lanky Welsh Cruyff.
And then there's Liam Trotter.
Next season will be so good, it's untrue. Sadly, I won't be able to get to any games, as I'll be spending my Saturdays nailing my genitalia to a coffee table. But still, it'll be great.

Get the right quality up front and we've a chance. Fail to do so and we might as well pack up and give in for another season. Doesn't matter who is in charge, if we don't have the quality up there we will once again struggle.

Really?
And how many more chances should Freedman have to get the right quality up front?

When he is given some sort of money to actually buy a striker who might make a difference.CrazyHorse wrote:Really?

Until then the manager is irrelevant.

Re: Abdoulaye's going t'Souk transfer thread
He had money and spent it on The Saviour last summer.
And that's ignoring the previous The Saviour and umpteen loans.
So again, how many more chances should Freedman have to get the right quality up front?

Re: Abdoulaye's going t'Souk transfer thread
how much did Freedman spend on Beckford? I genuinely don't know... was it a lot then?
(I presume you mean Beckford!)

Beckford was essentially a free unless we got promoted.CrazyHorse wrote:He had money and spent it on The Saviour last summer.

Davies cost a couple of hundred thousand.
Neither are significant in terns of money. We had £7m worth of strikers who've proven useless so what do you expect spending a twentieth of that will get you?
The answer was delivered last season in Mason and especially Juke. The manager knows what's needed. But will the club or can the club match that?
Do they want to be contenders or happy to bob along at best!

Re: Abdoulaye's going t'Souk transfer thread
He does seem to have got it right up front - in the past two seasons, we've scored about the same number of goals as most of the play off teams (in 12/13, we scored 8 more than automatically promoted Hull). It's the defence that needs fixing.CrazyHorse wrote:Really?
