How did you get them like that Bish? Got the Harley to do and was planning fine wet and dry followed by course polishing paste and fine paste with a drill thingy mop.

that's pretty much exactly what i did! it would have been a better job if I'd taken them off - but I couldn't be arsed...

i started with wet and dry - then i used a halfords metal polishing kit which is basically a drill attachment plus three differently graded cloth disks with three different polishing bars (course to fine)...

will apply a coat of wax to keep them that way...

I look forward to the results. Started my forks and got the whole of the crank cover to do. Just needs a paintjob and I'm sorted.

HP sauce next time. Works wonders on copper, save you about a days work.
You can judge the whole world on the sparkle that you think it lacks.
Yes, you can stare into the abyss, but it's staring right back.

fishermen/women!

my dad snapped this on holiday in Cuba. People were saying it might be a barracuda/marlin/swordfish, but it looks like none of those to me. Any ideas?

a cursory google suggests you're correct, however it doesn't look like they inhabit waters that far west? Maybe this fella? https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=cuban ... 33&dpr=1.1" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

i have one that i use when out in my kayak - cos it's waterproof - but have never actually used it underwater - largely cos the sea is cold here and there isn't that much that is interesting to photo in oddicombe bay... (or maybe i just haven't looked!) it's a fujifilm xp..

you've inspired me to try it!

I've a Canon D20 underwater jobbie. Takes ace photos. The snorkelling/diving folks all swear by the GoPro, but I wanted a regular type that I can use above and below water that wasn't small and fiddly.

Not a technically brilliant photo, but a favourite of mine that I took with the Canon..

I can't help you, Keys. My original thought was a garfish, but the tail seems to wrong. It's more like a shark's (i.e. concave) whereas most gars I've seen have fan-like (convex) tails. Then I pondered on salt water pike and ling. A search of this Internet thingy didn't help.
