Oh well. Given that Craig David is probably on his way out as well, and everyone hates Beckford because he doesn't run around like a headless chicken, I suppose that means we'll have to play some of the youngsters.

We'll have no one else.

Unless we play a Barca-esque none-up-front formation. Creativity's Neil Danns as Messi.

That should ensure we hit our target of not getting relegated. Probably.

Which we can't afford to use - everybody says so.

We may be able to get someone in on loan, again, I suppose. If they do well enough, they'll price themselves out of a move here. Splendid.

Assuming Dougie's allowed to spend it. Or at least a fraction of it.

That's some fraction of 500K. How many strikers does that buy? Slightly less than one Marvin Sordell, I'd guess.

I have no idea who's available for that sort of money. Maybe there's someone really good. Maybe.

Yee-ha!

How many Sordells is he worth?

Someone should update the Fabian ratings.

Well there you go - it being Friday afternoon, I've just calculated Fabian ratings for Ngog and Sordell.

Ngog (4million, 16 goals): 0.178
Sordell (3 million, 8 goals): 0.1185

Formula at:
http://www.burndenpark.freeserve.co.uk/FABIAN.HTM" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Right. That'll do.

Add-one come to a miserable 150 grand. Piss poor negotiating IMO. my hope is that we never paid the full fee due to missed success targets. And they must have all been missed I assume.

I think if you're taking that big a hit on the fee you at least hedge your bets a bit more effectively than that. Don't get me wrong, we're well rid, but if his supposed talent reappears, we're going to look even stupider than we did for signing the feck*.
Anyway, more likely they'll get relegated, gift him to AFC Wimbledon and we'll get promoted with his replacement blitzing defences, so good riddance. Tw@t.

What should we have done? Turned it down and let him run his contract down?

Clubs were hardly lining up. Club can't win. Personally irrespective of how he does there I think we've done very well to get that sort of deal for him.

The mistake was spending any sort of money on him in the first place.

Aitor Karanka admits he doesn’t know if Lukas Jutkiewicz will be wearing a Boro shirt at the start of the season.

However, he did stress that the striker is looking sharp in pre-season training and benefited greatly from his lengthy loan spell at Bolton Wanderers.

Several clubs, including one Premier League outfit, are keeping tabs on Jutkiewicz, who joined Boro in a £1.3m deal in January 2012.

He still has two years left on his current contract but it’s fair to say Boro would be prepared to listen to sensible offers for the 25-year-old.

Karanka is pleased with how Jutkiewicz is applying himself on the Rockliffe Park training pitches and would have no hesitation including him in the team when the pre-season friendlies get under way later this month.

“I am happy because he is training very well, he recovered his confidence at Bolton last season,” said Boro’s head coach, who defended his decision to send Jutkiewicz out on loan, especially as his own team suffered a goal drought.

“Everybody told me ‘Juke is scoring goals in Bolton and we aren’t scoring’ but it was a good decision because he recovered his confidence.

“He’s not a new player, obviously, but I can see the difference on the training pitch, he is scoring goals and he is happy.

“He is my player now and I will always speak well about my players. In the future, you never know, the market will decide, but now he is my player and I am thinking about him as my player.”

Very pleased with the signing of Moxey, we needed a left back and Dougie has found us a very good one.
The above post is complete bollox/garbage/nonsense, please point this out to me at any and every occasion possible.

do it for joe smith, that might break the schwarzchild radius

.. or ray westwood .

imagine a formula based on mccann's single league goal for us. it'd probably be worth 79 okocha's verses west ham.

Why not give him another chance? His goalscoring record was fine for us and whilst he isn't the greatest player, we're short up front as it is and even if we get Jutkiewicz, we still don't have a natural goalscorer. Sordell is more likely to get us 20 goals a season than any other striker we have or are rumoured to want, so there was an upside to keeping him.

I think a partnership of Jutkiewicz and Sordell would have been effective, personally. Both need a partner with attributes that the other has.

And that particular sentence is based on...what, exactly? Because from what I've seen, he's another striker that would struggle to get ten. Or are you just being contrary for the hell of it?
