It's got nothing to do with education. It's common-sense. Or life skills.
I think it's something you should be taught personally, much more important than 90% of stuff, opinions that it's just common sense are one of the major factors towards why we now have a higher personal debt in the country than ever before.
The above post is complete bollox/garbage/nonsense, please point this out to me at any and every occasion possible.

It's pre-season Pru, a bit of rustiness is to be forgiven.

Well, you can't decide who you sell to other than when there are bids from several clubs.

Only two clubs ever made a bid for Cahill, Arsenal and Chelsea.
City made an 18m offer which fell through according to Coyle.

That's like having to run round the pitch five times while everyone else plays 5-a-side.

Fact over fiction!

How very dare you?

On what I saw last term I think Bogdan's a much better keeper than Lonergan. Early doors I didn't think there was much between them. Of course I may be wrong.

Does having a 'top, top' keeper nett down to more points on the board than having a 'top, top' striker? I'd like to see some numbers on that.

Yes, sorry I meant post the city fall through. They didn't bid 18M though. Was around 12 but they pulled out due to some sort of internal disagreement.

But I mean at the time we sold him only two clubs came in. Spurs were rumoured but then Arry wanted everyone. Don't think they had a serious bid. Least not what PG claimed.

The mistake we made with Cahill, keep making, is allowing good players to get to the last year of their contracts.

We've got to keep Boggers. I wouldn't trade him for Juke. Solid defensive foundations are the key to any successful football team. Selling him and giving someone on cheaper wages 'a chance' is too chancy if the goal of promotion is to be achieved.

There was I believe a marked PPG increase when Juke was in the team, compared to him not being here.

I'm fairly certain there was little difference in PPG when Bogdan or Lonergan was in goal.

Might mean nowt, but would suggest that Juke is more critical to gaining points than Bogdan?

As far as the goalie situation goes I think we have 2 competent (with ability to feck up royally) keepers for this division. We could argue Boggers has more potential, but right now there isn't much between them. Moving forward we need 2 competent keepers. Can we replace Boggers for less and retain competence?

The way I see it is that Lonners wants game time. If he doesn't get enough, then he'll be off at contract end. If we don't get promoted, then Boggers will be off in 12 months. Unless we can get some commitment from Boggers I'd be inclined to go with Lonnergan, as I don't realistically see us being promoted any time soon.

The following stats are league only. (Lonners played all four cup games, W2 D1 (after 90 mins) L1; Juke was league-only.)

Bolton overall: W14 D17 L15 = 59 pts from 46 = 1.28ppg

Boggers: W9 D12 L8 = 39 points from 29 games = 1.34ppg
Lonners: W5 D5 L7 = 18 points from 17 games = 1.06ppg

Juke starting: W6 D6 L4 = 24 pts from 16 = 1.5ppg
Juke on as sub: W2 D1 L1 = 7pts from 4 = 1.75ppg
Juke in total: W8 D7 L5 = 31pts from 20 = 1.55ppg

Without Juke at all: W6 D10 L12 = 28pts from 26 = 1.08ppg
Without Juke starting: W8 D11 L11 = 35pts from 30 = 1.17ppg

Cheers. There is a slight error in your workings Lonergan should be 20 points from 17 games = 1.17ppg I think.

We also have to take into account that Bogdan was in goal for our best run (I think) when Juke and Mason were together up front.

I fancy Fulham to flop this year. Squad of overpaid underachievers, and bar McCormack - who ain't an £11m player, at 27 years old - there's only been more assembled by Magath, himself a loose cannon likely to blow at any moment. They've got a good youth team but this is a tough division in which to rely on kids. Add an inexperienced owner and a fanbase who've only known top-flight football for half a generation and you've got a fair blueprint for failure.

Could be wrong, of course: this division's got a good track record of surprising people. Including relegated teams.
