Is the fat lady singing yet?

Wait till he moves on until getting the pitch forks out.

Don't know why but the delay in announcing considering he had a "medical" yesterday morning is a bit suss.

Come on Eddie dig deep pal!

Lancashire Telegraph suggests we did bid but he chose the Prem club. I don't see the need to blame anyone for this. Question now is can he shop for bargains and get the best out of them. Glen Murray would suggest yes, his time with us otherwise. We'll soon find out. This squad can still make the playoffs. Not as favourites but the chance is there with a bit of luck and good management. He will sign another striker I'm sure, it will probably have to be a 'fingers crossed' signing though.
To suggest we're totally skint is just plain wrong, we've been signing players and considering the debt and his performance as manager I think he's been well backed.

But there were other options on the table for Jutkiewicz as Wigan joined the race on the back of Derby County and Bolton.

Boro went on to accept offers from two clubs yesterday, with Bolton understood to be one of them.

Be rather ironic if Juke and Sordell become the next strike sensations.... :(

Iles is with the squad and in contact with Freedman. He says no bid from Bolton whatsoever. So does Nixon.

Both are in agreement that Freedman was told there would be a bid once the price was set.

I think it is clear that either Eddie can't afford it or doesn't want to.

I'm very, very cynical about the fact that the day after not we can't or won't put a bid together for Juke there is a story in the Sun (job for someone who likes conspiracy theories here) talking about how Eddie has supposedly saved us from extinction or whatever by putting his money in just to keep our heads above water. Either Gartside and Davies have been lying all along and we're really in an absolutely dire situation - contrary to everything they've said. OR this is damage limitation to take the flak away from not stumping up for Juke.

Frankly it doesn't matter all that much whether it is a can't or won't. Eddie has put his money in and that is a lot more than most who follow Bolton with resources have done or will do. I can't criticise ED, he had to get out of the casino at some point and whether he still has chips in his pocket or not he was prepared to lay some out.

That doesn't change that it is an incredibly frustrating situation for the fans. Or at least I feel very disappointed that considering we had the makings of a solid team put together that we can't find the modest (relatively) amount of money to put a piece in who we already know is capable of making a huge difference.

It is frustrating that we are now at the point where I believe we are simply waiting for someone to come and invest in the club or buy it. I don't think they are running it into the ground or owt, but certainly it is going to tick along rather than be driven. And that may be a long wait.

EDIT: And you cannot compare this to the Dawson situation. Dougie said all along Dawson was a "nice to have if there was a chance". It was what the fans wanted, but Freedman at the fans forum last year explained he didn't think realistically we could get him. Juke was a different case and a player I believe we'd have signed even ahead of Burnley if the money had been made available.

I think we'll go with what we've got.

4 points (metaphorically) out of 6 in the friendlies without the Juke up front? Job's a good 'un.

We were in danger of changing too much anyway with the number of new signings.

“I’m no different to any manager, we all want strikers,” Freedman said.

“Gone are the days when you can go with two – like Jermaine (Beckford) and Craig and then worry about it if something happens to them. You need three even four strikers in the Championship, and have a different blend of players.

Big world out there, lots of players.

We missed out to a team in a division higher, it happens.

He is on a 3 year deal as well.

He has challenged Davies to score goals? I thought that was his job?

DF is looking for a striker that is different to what we have already got......That's one that can score goals then!!

He just has to pretend to Craig Davies that he's rated him all along and he's the main man.
To be fair it worked with Ream and Mills.

I have actually. I live near the hospital and Harry Wildeman, our local farmer is notorious for his fertiliser stinking the neighbourhood out.

Dougie's quote in tonight's BEN about strikers being the main requirement and how it's goals that get you promoted, I found to be quite heartening. I was getting worried we were going to attempt to 1-0 & 0-0 our way out of this division.

He said the same about needing goals last summer. Any manager knows and wants that. It is finding them that is the problem.

Any ten year old kid knows it. It's what football's about. That was the point.
