Iles and Nixon say it is rubbish.

Iles says we don't have that sort of money to spend.

Are Iles and Nixon still denying a bid was made for Juke.

Struggling to keep up/ give a feck here.
Yes. And Freedman admitted that we didn't bid today.
In the end the timing just didn’t sit right financially to put our hand in our pocket.

So, since we don't have that sort of money to spend (£600000), presumably the idea that we were ever seriously going to be in for the Pole can be discounted? After all, even at the cheapest, the price was mooted to be around £1million.

Presumably Freedman knew this as well - or does he not get told a ballpark figure for his transfer budget?

Freedman clearly didn't know as in the interview today he admits he was hoping to sign him up until it was too late.

I think there is a budget to work within, but deals like Juke would sit outside it and need a sub from Eddie. Same happened with Spearing last summer if you recall.

I suspect that asking for money from Eddie now is only where there is a very strong and proven case. Juke would fit that given he had been shown to work here but clearly it didn't happen.

Personally I'd like some clarity from the club as to what is really happening, what the strategy is etc....I'm not holding my breath.

This is what is says Pru

Bolton Wanderers have had a bid in the region of £600,000 rejected for Ostersunds striker Modou Barrow reports the Daily Mail.

The Trotters had wanted to sign Lukas Jutkiewicz from fellow Championship rivals Middlesbrough but Jutkiewicz chose to join Premier League new boys Burnley instead.

This has led Dougie Freedman to look for a new striker, where he found Modou Barrow playing for Swedish side Ostersunds. Barrow is currently on trial with Bolton and seems to have done enough to convince Freedman to try and snap him up.

Barrow is a 21 year old striker from Gambia who has spent all his career playing in Sweden. At Ostersunds Barrow has scored six goals in nine games in the Swedish second tier.

The question is why take him on a trial if they cannot afford him? Maybe a initial deal should have been sorted before taking him on trial? The search for a striker continues........

^^ Shouldn't this be on the Suarez thread by now ?

I'll get the Swedes on to it. See what they come back with.

EDIT: Sweden has spoken. OK, ONE Swede has spoken, but you know what I mean!? ;)

He's from Gambia so he is not Swedish :) But has been playing in Swedish 1 and 2nd leagues. Think he played for Varberg in 2nd league last year. Only 22-23 years old. Probably taking a chance buying him... If he would be a great player he would for sure play in Swedish 1st league...

This is a shit transfer thread. I blame all that sand blowing about the place, getting stuck up bum cracks, scratching i-phone screens, making my egg sandwiches all gritty.

Is he the lad who played left wing second half in the first friendly?

Didn't stand out, and didn't look like an out and out striker either.

It's the one who got a YouTube compilation a few pages back..dunno if he played in the friendly.

@ 600k that should make him

Twice the player that Cravies is,
20% better than Sordell when we sold him, but 80% worse than the Sordell we bought
Half as good as Beckford
Twice as good as Eaves
Nowhere near as good as N'gog

Can't fecking wait! :-)

Oh lordy.

I'm glad it doesn't work like that!

TBF, I was probably being kind when I said he didn't stand out, he looked a bit shit but one half probably isn't enough to judge him on. Also, the last trialist striker I saw play for us in a friendly I dismissed as shite. That was SKD
