Get em in now. We need as much time as possible to get em out twice on this wicket.TANGODANCER wrote:Call now is to get India in to bat. Light not brilliant apparently and they'll be knackered, so they say......Might let Bell get to 200, he deserves it for sure....
And with that he's out for a splendid 167.

Yep. Buttler was exciting. I wonder what he will offer to the batting lineup when the ball is doing a lot and we are under pressure but then I feel we've lacked an attacking player somewhere in the order so it provides a different option.TANGODANCER wrote:569-7 declared. A good day's work.

Hope out twin speed attack is enough without that spinner. Come on.....

Now, I haven't seen it, but judging by the scorecard and his previous record, am I correct in thinking that Cook was doing his thing whereby he was waiting for someone to get their hundred again rather than chucking India in?BWFC_Insane wrote: Get em in now. You could argue that he was waiting for Buttler (who was out on 85), but in fairness, Buttler wasn't hanging around. Don't think it was too unreasonable a decco.Bruce Rioja wrote:Now, I haven't seen it, but judging by the scorecard and his previous record, am I correct in thinking that Cook was doing his thing whereby he was waiting for someone to get their hundred again rather than chucking India in?BWFC_Insane wrote: Get em in now. Re: creeeeeeeekeeeeeet
Warne had a little pop on the commentary saying they should have bowled more overs at a tired India. Then again he and Cook have form.

Re: creeeeeeeekeeeeeet
Recent history tells us that India, for some strange if not inexplicable reason, is not particularly good away from home territory. Spotty is the perfect example of leopards changing their spots so I'd be a bit wary with wild and woolly predictions. What's the weather like, chaps and chapesses? Is Mars at apogee or perihelion? Perhaps there is a planet in the ascendancy about to cross the invisible barrier between star signs? It must be nice to be paid for being a pundit.
It's all in good fun, folks. Three days in which to skittle the opposition twice? That's 270 overs for 20 wickets. So, one wicket per thirteen and a half overs; easy peasy. Yeah. We'll see.

Good news for Ian Bell - the precautionary X-ray on his thumb has revealed bruising but no fracture.
Re: creeeeeeeekeeeeeet
india 5 down (Moeen had Sharma) - just restarted after tea..
that's 11 wickets across the summer for Moeen - and more of a measure of control than the backup seamers seem to be able to muster... he's also been decent with the bat (for a newbie)

Saw Stuart Broad in interview last night and he said he didn't like enforcing the follow on. He felt that even a few hours rest for the bowlers makes a big difference and I guess Cook has to go with what his senior bowlers prefer.thebish wrote:and again - 330 all out - VERY nice wrapping up..

Given we are reliant mainly on Broad and Anderson for wickets now I think batting again is the right call. If we had Swann of course we should have stuck em straight back in!
Re: creeeeeeeekeeeeeet
robson falls early again... must be question marks over his place now...
dunno why they don't just promote ballance - given the fact that one of the openers has pretty much always gone early - he has been effectively opening the batting most of the summer - and done very well...
