Well one would think a 400 lead would be more than sufficient. However I suspect they'll want another 120 is to get a 450 lead. Depends how fast they score too. Overs left are important.

England need plenty tonight at India I feel as I don't see us taking 10 wickets in one day.

Anyone know the weather forecast for down there tomorrow?

if we want to win this game - I'd not leave it too much longer. if we are gonna stick around - we have to be scoring off every ball....
Agreed. But then there is the question of how long you can bowl Broad and Anderson for with minimal rest. Are you better off giving them an extra hour or two to be fresher? I don't have faith in Jordan or Woakes to rip through India, though Ali seems to have the golden touch - he takes wickets with long hops, which is nice!

So why don't they just go into 20-20 mode now and not care about giving wickets away?

400 ahead now. It's a good performance and I reckon another quick 50 or so and then set up the ducks.

Get them in now!!! They're not knocking 400 in a day and a bit and we need the time to get them out if they're going to be dropping the bat on it.

Root's gone playing 20-20 style thrashes. Just prior to that he whacked the ball onto his own ankle, so that won't have helped.

Well they sort of were from what I can tell.

Harder to score quickly though because in test matches teams can set up defensive fields and bowl wider of off and wide leg stump to make scoring much harder.

Didn't seem to work too well for them. We were getting 14's and 12's off overs at the end.

Oh, I say, this isn't cricket. Not at all. One chap suggesting a player gets his doosra out on the field. That's disgusting. Play fair chaps...

Vijay as well. That is a huge wicket. Reckon England need a couple more tonight to give themselves a decent chance tomorrow.

So far so good. I'm not a Cook as captain fan but it was pleasing to see him get his 95 and 70 n.o.. In hindsight (as I only see the scores after the day's play is finished) I think that setting India a target was the right one. Tis but six wickets in three sessions so it's all about being accurate now so the bowlers must behave themselves and the fielders not waste the bowlers' efforts.

Easy to say but not necessarily easy to do. All the best, England.
