I don't think he was helped by this Summer's Transfer Thread. :-)

And unlike the last two managers who pointed to having to cut the wage budget - I actually think Freedman has done so - and in large measure.

But I think the time has come/passed....You could see us on 1 point from 12 by 1700 on Saturday.
You're not blaming me for Trotter I hope

I think if you take his entire time here and add up the changes he has been able to make, we should have made some progression. The only progression I can see is the wage budget has reduced. The only excuse he has is the much reduced, but not particularly low for this division budget. I see no excuses left to allow for the shambles that continues on the pitch.

I question whether a B-52 could fly on one of its 8 engines, let alone the 4 you've downgraded it to.

I also question why a B-52 would be flying back from Germany after being shot at.

See, even the analogies are f*cked now. We're all doomed I tell you. Doomed!

I voted 'keep'. the season isnt old enough to shout 'go'..

Though it was a 51/49 decision.

I don't know what people are expecting to happen if Freedman is given more time, whether it's 10 games or more. He's never going to be a good manager, he'll never take us anywhere positive so what is the point in sticking with him? At best, we'd be looking at a mid-table finish if he stays with us all season and that isn't progress. At worst, and it's now becoming a viable possibility given how poor we are, we'd be looking at relegation, and that isn't a gamble we should be taking. The season has only just started so he should be sacked and then at least the new manager only has a 6 point deficit from the top of the table. Give Freedman 10 games and if things stay the same, that deficit could easily be 15+ points. I don't see the point in keeping him at all. Is it harsh to sack a manager after 3 games? Yeah, maybe, but Freedman's failure goes back a long way and he should have been sacked after 10 games last season so the argument that it's too soon isn't true.

Sack him, bring in someone better and lets hope to kick on.

There's a difference between when people think he will be sacked, with when people think he should have been sacked.

We aren't doing the sacking so I think he would be sacked by around game 10, unless we're still on one point after 6/7 games in which case he might get triggered earlier or we string a few wins together. If we were mid-table but not looking like challenging by game 10, I don't think he'll get the boot.

It's interesting (to me anyhow :-) ) that Wigan who flirted Coyle, early(ish) last season are now in their second season in the Championship, probably had some similar FFP problems to us and after getting a "new manager" bounce last season are now on the same points as us...With Rosler saying things that were saying on here last season...

If we don't get shot soon, the transfer window closes and we're stuck with this lot of jokers until Xmas. We could be down by February

Going down won't be that bad - new grounds, new teams. We might even win a few.

Yeah.

I'll hire a Transit van from Jacksons Van Hire (do either still exist?). 18 of us in the back and headed to Cincil Bank and back without a cushion between us. :pissed:

I wanted Freedman to do well, but seeing as he is in his 3rd season and we seem to be getting worse I'm saying get rid. Only problem is who Gartside would get in next...not got a great track record for picking managers

indeed... yet, on page 170 of this very thread..
SmokinFrazier wrote:We don't need to be rebuild, we need to hire a manager who can get the most out of our squad, just like Wigan have done by appointing Rosler as a successor to Coyle. Do Wigan need a lengthy period to rebuild or can they get promoted this season or the next?

For what it's worth, Wigan are 4 points off the play-offs and they've got a game in hand. Maybe someone should remind them that they need to sell all their best players and spend the next 10 years rebuilding rather than trying to go straight back up. How dare they hire a manager who knows what he's doing!
careful what you wish for...

Oh aye, anyone new would have to scrabble around the bargain basement bin and get the best out of the current lot. I mentioned it on another thread - Holloway at Millwall and Peeters at Charlton have made a pretty good start with the same restrictions
