I've no doubt there are umpteen a55holes you can be unfortunate enough to be sat next to (you should have seen who I ended up next to at Watford!Armchair Wanderer wrote:A slightly different angle... £30 to watch a game of football is fine. But £30 to sit next to someone who should know better hurling abuse for an hour and a half, is a bit steep.

The Forest match set Mrs G & I back £52. I actually quite enjoyed the 1st half but could have gone home at half time and not felt like I'd missed much. That wouldn't have been the 1st time either.
What was a step too far was the club wanting the same for the Tuesday match V Boro. £104 out of our income in the space of 4 days is a lot to ask these days imo. Unless the fayre on offer is particularly impressive, I'm just not likely to suffer the hardship that often

Sorry, didn't mean fine, just meant it's the going rate and it's been the same for a few years now. For me on the train (and rail replacement) it's about £100-a-head with some food before/after. If tickets were £10 I'd go more! The thought of being sat in a half-empty, quiet stadium with the only sound being "You daft Scottish..." and the football not being that great that makes the decision about whether to go or not a lot easier. If we were winning every week at least I'd want to spend the money if I had it and take a chance on who I was sat near.Harry Genshaw wrote:I've no doubt there are umpteen a55holes you can be unfortunate enough to be sat next to (you should have seen who I ended up next to at Watford!Armchair Wanderer wrote:A slightly different angle... £30 to watch a game of football is fine. The players you fail to sign never lose you any money.

I didn't bother with an ST for years - with work, can't make every home game, but I guess if you've got a fair chance of making it then 2 ST's would make sense as it probably works out £15 a game per person...(Which is a lot nearer yer tenner)...I'm alright where I'm sat the company is decent (I think the couple at the front are dead) and the bloke sat next to me bizarrely enough sees the game in a similar light to me.Armchair Wanderer wrote:Sorry, didn't mean fine, just meant it's the going rate and it's been the same for a few years now. Guess it depends on how many games you think you'll make/miss. You'd have to miss a fair proportion though to get it up to £30 a ticket (about half the games)...
Re: Who Do You Want?
I always hoped that 10 years of PL football would help turn pre/teenage heads away from United. However, as DSB mentioned, even if that happened there's a low % of the crowd of that age everywhere.
It's hard to come away these days and not consider packing it in and only coming back if I ever had a lad to bring.
If I was asked that in April 2013 though after 7 home wins in a row...

Are you saying those players were not good enough for the Championship?BWFC_Insane wrote:If only they were championship quality.....Whookam wrote:If forgot Freedman took us from the Prem to 18th in the Championship and stocked the team with championship quality players for big money...

Why do you have such an issue with Ream?boltonboris wrote:Here we go...... Tell us how you think Tim Ream should play in midfield, so I can mark you under clinically insane

Ream is the future. Believe.

I have an 'issue' with him, because he's a hapless defender. Yet he's held on a pedestal by some as our future!! The worst thing is, that even the people who like him as a player know how shit he is at the back, therefore want to move him into midfield. Which would be great, if he wasn't wasteful, unintelligent and weak.

Re: Who Do You Want?
Several of them don't seem good enough for anyone do they? Seeing as 4 of them, Eagles, Knight, Mears and Ngog (I make that roughly £7M worth of fees Coyle spent) are now on the football scrapheap with the season well underway.SmokinFrazier wrote:Are you saying those players were not good enough for the Championship?BWFC_Insane wrote:If only they were championship quality.....Whookam wrote:If forgot Freedman took us from the Prem to 18th in the Championship and stocked the team with championship quality players for big money...
One has to look at the evidence. On paper I thought they'd be fine in this league. On grass they weren't. Had they been we'd not be in this position and Owen Coyle would still be holding his weekly table tennis sessions at Euxton.

So what level were the squad as a whole at? Which Premier League quality players did we have the season we got relegated?BWFC_Insane wrote:Several of them don't seem good enough for anyone do they? Re: Who Do You Want?
Actually playing football - the kind that aims to use a ball rather than run...sorry...stroll or even stand around without it, which is what Freedman's teams are serving up, would be nice.Prufrock wrote:Playing 'nice football' occasionally would be nice. As would having a stated aim which wasn't deliberately not doing.
Coyle's problem was a lack of flexibility. He insisted on playing a system that worked well with Holden, Sturridge, Elmander and Mavies/Moreno in the team long after they'd all gone and we had nothing to frighten anybody with.
New manager? I'm sure we could tempt Mixu Paatelainen to quit Finland...he'd be falling over himself to get the job.

Well, one manager has gone from the list.
Palace have just appointed Warnock. He is the sort we need IMO.
