It started badly, tailed off a little in the middle and the less said about the end the better — but apart from that it was excellent.

That it's going to lose its mind
Be more kind, my friends, try to be more kind.

Threlkeld sounds like he could do with a bit more experience. I'd be for loaning him out when mcnaughton is fit again. Risks not developing in the reserves.

We were very poor.

They were better than us. They passed and moved, making progress in neat triangles and hit the bar twice and missed the target by less than two yards half a dozen more.

We were hoofing a lot of the time.

Our inability to defend a lead (even against a pointless side from the division below) is phenomenal. And embarrassing.

We now have a defence that pretty much ensures we need an attack that can score three goals to win a game.

This is not a good place to be.

Though I'm still glad we won.

Crewe is a dump.

We didn't have time to make it to the proper chippie.

T'other was all right for those that were scoffing. One of them included Bruce.

So, no surprises off the pitch either.

Only comments to add, Lonergan was our one outstanding player. Without him and with better finishing from them, it could have been 6 or 7 and Crewe wouldn't have been flattered. Matt Mills thinks that he can play the ball out from the back like Franz Beckenbauer. He quite clearly can't!

Oh, the fish and chips were shite and swimming in grease.

Other than that it was a grand night out. Wemberlee!!

You're a harsh man, Harry
From what I have heard they missed the start due to someone leaving the tickets in their car... In Bolton... :D
I can neither confirm nor deny that this vicious rumour is true. Btw it wasn't me!

What I can confirm, which Bruce will be able to testify to, is that it is possible to eat a tray of fish and chips in less than 10 minutes. 8)

Feeney had a good game, Trotter was looking OK when he got injured and Danns was decent. That fast left winger of theirs caused some problems, he could really shift and caused Oscar some problems but he stuck at it. Crewe played some good stuff but carved us open too easily. We look nervous of being attacked.
Beckford was appalling for 90 mins but then finished well twice. There was a marked refusal to celebrate which is fair enough if he feels he's getting stick. Hardly surprising though given his overall efforts so far. He can sulk all he likes as long as he continues to do his job properly.
I like the mickey mouse cup, long may we continue playing inferior teams. Balls to the league and its disappointments.

WTF is GG on about? No idea where these rumours come from.

↑↑↑ The car with the band of brothers aboard set out late, arrived late, went to the wrong car park ... missed the best chippie and was missing the presence of the six tickets. We all got in late as we were re-purchasing said tickets and so missed Crewe's first goal and another gilt edged chance apparently.

Crewe isn't a dump, the one specific street the gang went to is a bit dumps but still better than Manchester Road by Burnden.

We played shite ..... like they'd never met before. There is a horrid lack of confidence which becomes self fulfilling after a while. Crewe outplayed us. We looked to be on their level, as we did with Bury two weeks ago. I maintain the the players are confused and not bought into the great leader's tactics.

Beckford took his two goals nicely. He clearly resents the fans as his 'celebration' was mostly based on an unspoken "fck you" stance to the fans. A bit of a Catch 22 there Jermaine.
Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

Seems to me Bobo, that for the Capital Cup you need to just turn up for the last 5 minutes. You get all the best excitment, with less of the drudgery and more time for chips n beer

Yes .... A bit like one day cricket in that sense. You still need your tickets though.

Well there must have been some liquid in there (I hesitate to use the word lubrication  ) as the toes of my trainers are stained yellow. I can only imagine it was the run-off from the grease in the tray!

That'll be from where you did a bit of wee due to the excitement conjured up by the prospect of extra time. :)

Anyhow - does anyone know what time the draw's made? Can't find anything anywhere!

 I think the draw is after tonight's games. Let's see where the draw takes the 'band of brothers' in the next round!
