That I called it wrong on Freedman ?????thebish wrote:your turn now, Bobo...bobo the clown wrote:There. It didn't hurt, now did it ?BWFC_Insane wrote:I thought Freedman would turn us round. He hasn't. I don't believe it is as black and white as people are making out and were it my decision I'd stick with him for the forseeable because I don't see a way out right now.
However, I was wrong he hasn't done as well as I thought and ultimately is now taking us backwards. Does that make it better?
Don't think so Vic.
Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

TBF to Bobes, he has said a few times (IIRC) that he'd love to be proven wrong about DF.

I have always admitted to my errors. I just don't make many.

I'd have loved to be wrong about Coyle. And wish Dougie had lived up to my expectations.Dave Sutton's barnet wrote:TBF to Bobes, he has said a few times (IIRC) that he'd love to be proven wrong about DF.
I still believe there is a decent manager in Freedman lurking somewhere, sadly I just don't think it is going to be uncovered whilst he is here.

I actually agree. But here, now, he's so mired in his mistakes that he's totally overwhelmed by them. The more he wriggles, the more he sinks.BWFC_Insane wrote:I still believe there is a decent manager in Freedman lurking somewhere, sadly I just don't think it is going to be uncovered whilst he is here.

I don't think it is as dramatic as that. He's just lost his way. I think he's probably struggling to get people on side and get the best out of them.bobo the clown wrote:I actually agree. I totally sympathise with him over lack of recruits. But he's seemingly getting himself into such a state over it that it is to the detriment of the players we have.
I do worry that he'll go somewhere else off the back of this and do really well. Thems the breaks I guess.
It is why I am in the "experience only" camp. We just cannot go through this process again.
Re: Who Do You Want?
I often admit to being wrong. Not about specific things as such, just in a general sense.

But experienced managers also fail, because the players (and fans) have heard it all before. Ask Forest fans about Ron Atkinson.BWFC_Insane wrote:I don't think it is as dramatic as that. I sympathise with DF over how the finances have gone – he clearly thought, for instance, that we'd at least make a bid for Juke, who seemed to be waiting for us – but this squad is now almost entirely his signings or re-signings, and he's very far from getting the best out of them. I think that's because he's overcautious with his tactics, and quite probably undercautious with his soundbites.

The other possibility is that he thought there was money to spend so many of the players he's brought in were only intended to be back up....Dave Sutton's barnet wrote:But experienced managers also fail, because the players (and fans) have heard it all before. Craig Davies as back up to the Juke would be pretty acceptable for example.....
I do believe he was brought in with promises of far more than he's actually received.
Re: Who Do You Want?
it would have taken quite some impressive forsight if he bought Cravies as backup for Juke - who we hadn't even heard of back then!!BWFC_Insane wrote: The other possibility is that he thought there was money to spend so many of the players he's brought in were only intended to be back up....

This "Who do you want?" thread's, a bit like Letter to Santa, except a bit less likely to have its request granted.

Aye but I mean in a more general sense. He might have bought him as backup rather than expecting him to be our main choice.thebish wrote:it would have taken quite some impressive forsight if he bought Cravies as backup for Juke - who we hadn't even heard of back then!!BWFC_Insane wrote: The other possibility is that he thought there was money to spend so many of the players he's brought in were only intended to be back up....

Re: Who Do You Want?
not convinced by the he-only-signed-backup-players-cos-he-thought-he'd-sign-the-main-ones-later theory...
DSB sounds a bit more plausible...
