Re: Freedman out!
One thing I would say .... Thank God we've moved on those disruptive players like Eagles & Mears. We'd be right in the mire if they were still here.
Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

Hadn't Mears moved on before he even arrived?

no, I don't think so... Mears left at the same time as Eagles and Knight...EverSoYouri wrote:bobo the clown wrote:One thing I would say .... Thank God we've moved on those disruptive players like Eagles & Mears. We'd be right in the mire if they were still here.

i don't think Mears was the same since he broke his leg - not sure his failure is down to Dougie...

I'm clinging to what may be false memory syndrome, but haven't our previous managerial partings come at least the day after a game, rather than on the same day?

Aaaah. I see. So we haven't been doing so far ?TonyDomingos wrote:Things are looking up!
@OfficialBWFC: FREEDMAN: "After the international break we've now got to be looking to win two or three games on the bounce."
That explains a huge amount.

Absolutely. There's such a thing as bouncing too soon, you know.

well a poster on wways, reckons a taxi driver mate has taken dougie to mancr airport bound for EDs palace on the IoM for showdown talks (if ED was at the match not sure why he couldn't meet up afterwards). But anyway another one for you to cling onto youriEverSoYouri wrote:Bless you, my child, for spreading hope to the needy.Worthy4England wrote:I'm clinging to what may be false memory syndrome, but haven't our previous managerial partings come at least the day after a game, rather than on the same day?

And is any of these people vouched for by George Weah's cousin, by any chance?

Megson was the day after the 2-2 with Hull
Coyle was 3 days after the defeat to Milwall...

I have a mental image of him, after probably the odd brandy too many, using this exact phrase whilst a slight tear comes to his eyes "is this what we've come to phil? Why didn't you tell me when it was 50 mil? What are we going to do with the house now, and that brand new car will have to go back, I don't care what the man at the showroom says..."
Its fun being a Wanderer at the moment.

Don't they do Skype on the IoM? I would have thought the cost of a flight would bust our (non-existent) budget.StaffsTrotter wrote:well a poster on wways, reckons a taxi driver mate has taken dougie to mancr airport bound for EDs palace on the IoM for showdown talks (if ED was at the match not sure why he couldn't meet up afterwards). Re: Freedman out!
When ED binned off Megson after the Hull match I saw him lean over to Gartside as the fury at the substitution arose. Gartside carried on looking forward, but nodded. Megson was I believe told to await a call the next morning but not come into the training ground.
The call came telling him the gig was up the next morning. I'm not sure Eddie was anywhere near the actual activity.
I guess the coup-de-gras was that small word spoken in Gartside's ear. I doubt there was much discussion after that.

He got sacked by phone according to what he said in the press. He seemed miffed by this even though he shunted Campo the same way...

only in that weird conspiracy world where absolutely everything has to be dougie's fault for fear of being labelled a dougie-ite...

that's quite a costly taxi journey!!
doesn't Eddie still have that
Re: Freedman out!
What a draw that was. Everyone in the ground saw the mistake he'd made and everyone in the ground knew it was exactly the same mistake that he'd made only a few games prior.Worthy4England wrote:EverSoYouri wrote:Megson was the day after the 2-2 with HullWorthy4England wrote:I'm clinging to what may be false memory syndrome, but haven't our previous managerial partings come at least the day after a game, rather than on the same day?

Heard McGinley on GMR, whilst I agree with a bit of what he said, I'd pick him up on 2 points...bobo the clown wrote:McGinley was on GMR today and didn't pull his punches. Very direct about his view that for the past 2 years we've been set out unadventurously and more with an eye not to lose than to give it a go. That it's joyless and us losing fans and the need to switch on the fans, the town and the community again has to be a priority. He is of the view that it's time he went.
He suggested Phil Brown with Roch somewhere around. Not sure that's workable but certainly agree with his first part.
1) let's not use Dougie as an excuse for people not going to the reebok/macron. Our home support has been piss poor for years, just look at the attendance vs villa in a semi final when we were flying. I can just imagine people who've not been since we left burnden park, pissed up in super John's pub telling him how they used to go, but not whilst Dougie/Phil is there. Liars
2) Phil Brown!? Please god no! Chris Houghton or Brian McDermott please
The Sherpa Van Trophy! We've won it one time!
