Well, Rossendale, hat would you expect ?
Shawforth man, 85, suspected of driving car at 81-year-old

An 85-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of driving a car at another octogenarian. Police said the 81-year-old victim was struck near garages on Old Lane, Shawforth, Lancashire, on Wednesday. He was treated for leg injuries and was in a critical condition, but is now said to be stable.

A man from Shawforth, near Rochdale, was held on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent and dangerous driving. He has since been bailed. Officers believe the men know each other and are appealing for witnesses to the incident.

A flat cap, of course.

Here, are you trying to wangle writing the preface for Dan's Shitholes?

Some parts of Rossendale are absolutely beautiful, with fantastic people. No one asked them to be dobbed in with Bacup.

^^ I could write a book on amazing interview replies ... and not a few amazing questions from inexperienced interviewers as well.

Plus the odd attitudes taken at interviews, like the guy who kicked off his shoes, leant back with his feet on a chair and chewed gum. Or the one who, when I said "take a seat" sat in what was clearly and obviously my chair.

Why do they ever ask the 'What's your greatest weakness question?'

Does anyone ever say anything genuine or is it just 'I'm a perfectionist' or 'I don't know how to say no' etc?

If anyone asks that, directly, at a serious level of job, the questioner is an amateur.

All you want, technical capabilities notwithstanding, is to investigate the person's experience and get a feel for their manner and whether they will be "a fit" with the team.

For all the theory and bollox, and even where there are aptitude or personality tests to take (always dubious) that's the real aim.

So they are looking more for how you say something than specifically what.

... oh, & the intrviewee who tailgated me toward the factory. Flashed me, gave me the 'tosser' hand-signal as he overtook and then toyed with heavy braking once he was in front of me. Then, I arrived at the factory and drove into my named parking spot only to see him signing in.

As he was arriving for an interview for a role which carried a company car (and we had a number of good candidates) I had the delight of deciding not bothering to interview him and telling him so & that he could fck-off.

That was nice.

I think that was a bit of a missed opportunity. Surely you could have toyed with him for a bit then told him to feck off?
