Just renewed my car insurance policy. A staggering amount lower than last year when I left it late and Admiral stitched me up good & proper. I saved over £200 and la bobo saved £250 as well .... for what seems better cover.

Tomorrow I tell Admiral exactly where to stick their renewal. If they want I'll tell them what angle to insert it at and precisely how far up

I may tape the call. For training purposes, y'know.

^ Same road I went down two years ago, and from Admiral too. I escaped to Hastings Direct and with mine and hers plus household insurance we saved enough for a holiday1

Well, I called and they offered to match. I told them that just made my even more irritated as it just proved how they'd ripped us off last year.

Went to make a brew this morning and found this fella on the sinktop. Whether it had climbed up the pipe or flown in, I know not. Had to move it quick before the wife returns. This weather we have the back door open a lot. Not much life in it and I took it outside on a piece of kitchen roll and took the pic. It's about the size of a fingernail in the body. From what I can see ( from looking it up ), it might be a Stink Bug? Might be common, but I've never seen one before. Any ideas?

Just watching Pointless has reminded me of something that happened in Mondays episode which left me confused.

The question was "Name a country that begins with the same letter as its capital".

One half of the couple was a Geography teacher who came up with what I thought was in with a chance of the money. He said Taiwan and referred to its capital as Taipei, which sounded right to me.

Anyway it was wrong and for once, they never explained why. Surely the Beeb weren't scared of offending any Chinese who may be watching so pretended Taiwan wasn't a country? :conf:

Don't think it's offending China.

Usually for countries they give the definition that it has to be a UN member, which Taiwan isn't.

In any case I think the official name of the 'country' it is part of is the 'Republic of China' (as opposed to the People's Republic of China-which I'd China proper).

I think.

The probable reason is that Taiwan is not a member of the United Nations as China has, and always will I guess, blocked membership. Isn't that one of Richard Osman's definitions ?

Another possible reason, & it's mor of a a stretch is that Taiwan is just the name of the main island .... massively the main island, but the country's official name is the 'Republic of China'.

Ah right the UN thing makes sense. Not like the legend Richard Osman not to explain properly though

Alway liked him on Pointless, but caught a couple of his new show episodes, Two Tribes. Not impressed.

He was at the wedding reception I went to on Saturday. Someone pointed him out to me. He's very tall. I was a bit underwhelmed as I had never heard of him before.

At parties with Richard Osman !?!? You're much more of a mover and a shaker than you make out, aren't you.

Anyway, if you were talking to him you'd be meeting eye-to-eye, that's for sure.
