Dave Sutton's barnet wrote:To be honest Bobo I think he's somewhat desperate. So am I. But Williams is capable of being a decent player - tricky, creative; battled back well from a broken leg. Picked for Wales U21 age 17 - second-youngest ever to represent them. And as you're already thinking "tallest dwarf", while we're on the subject he's 5ft 7in.
Can't blame the manager for being desperate - at least in terms of seeking affordable, quality new recruits. Weren't we also trialling Malta's player of the year? Any news on him?

I think Williams is a good player, but again he's a midfielder and again he's another who couldn't score a goal to save his life (currently averaging one every 63 games).

Here are the Championship goal scoring records of what you would describe as our 'attackers', along with how many that would be on average in a season...

Mark Davies - 8 in 69 - 5
Liam Trotter - 26 in 166 - 7
Neil Danns - 37 in 226 - 8
Darren Pratley -24 in 160 - 7
Owen Garvan - 23 in 252 - 4
CY Lee - 7 in 91 - 4
Liam Feeney - 5 in 87 - 3
Rob Hall - 1 in 39 - 1
Joe Mason - 25 in 106 - 11
Jermaine Beckford - 24 in 111 - 10
Craig Davies - 23 in 114 - 9

Which probably explains how Pratley and Trotter get into the side.

Whilst this makes sobering reading, especially with respect to our forwards, to be fair to Mason, almost 60 of those appearances were as sub. (Not sure how that pans out with Beckford and Davies).

It's a shame one of Freedman's friendly agents don't have a striker available.

Offish from the club - Bogdan out for up to eight weeks. Fractured his finger in training.
Freedman out.

Eight weeks ??? Fck. That's some broken finger he's giving the club.
Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

Max and Paddy. Brilliant!

Why the feck are we signing kenny - whats wrong with the keeper he signed from palace??

Its all a bit jobs for the boys this palace lark...there was a shit centre half we picked up from them in the summer as well as the rest. Just another reason to sack the useless fcker.

Normally I'd have great enthusiasm for us signing a 20 year old striker from Crewe who's been described as a hot prospect rated at a million quid. But Dougie has sapped all the enthusiasm out of me for youngsters, for 'hot prospects.' I just know we'll rarely see him. He'll be farmed out. He'll be told he's not ready.

I know Trotter bagged a few for Millwall, but Pratley? I don't recall him scoring more than 2 for us? In 3 years?

Pratters certainly has more than two for us. He got our first two goals last season if memory is correct. But I don't think he's on more than about a handful. Think he used to get a few for Swansea.

I guess he has yet to be taught how to run properly.

It's hard to believe he once scored from the halfway line for Swansea. This just isn't the same Pratley.

Sky has us linked to Nigerian-Swiss striker Innocent Emeghara. Decent enough record
Pfffft.

Not seen it anywhere yet..

We got half a million from the Ngog deal recently. That makes it 1 million of the Queen's English pounds if you add the Sordell money.
