This time of year is when the BP family eagerly awaits the putting up of the Christmas decorations at one of the houses on Winchester Way. Well today it happened. Merry Christmas Breightmet!!

↑↑↑ that truly, truly is madness.
Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

I drive passed that house on my way home most nights and have had a chuckle in the past when they've been up just prior to Halloween but they've out done themselves his year!! I'll be looking forward to my commute home tomorrow more than usual!

The failure on the part of the occupants of the house at the top of Turton Street to be the town's first has just cost me a fiver bet.Burnden Paddock wrote:This time of year is when the BP family eagerly awaits the putting up of the Christmas decorations at one of the houses on Winchester Way. I had my money on a national grid sub-station near us in Farnworth but they haven't showed yet. I'm betting it won't be long though.

At work today we had a minute's silence in rememberance of 9/11. While there's no doubt that the attack on the twin towers was an awful event and thousands of innocent people lost their lives, am I out of order for thinking that the adoption of a minute's silence is a bit crass?

Doesn't cost anyone anything and there were British people involved so it isn't a "none of our business thing" Compassion costs nothing. . Okay by me.Nicko58 wrote:At work today we had a minute's silence in rememberance of 9/11. Probably the worst event of the modern digital age, I'm struggling to think of anything comparable in the last God knows how long, and easy to understand why folk would want to commemorate it. I do have that little thought in the back of my mind, would anyone have given as much of a feck if it had happened in say, China but what the hell..bobo the clown wrote:I guess it's an American company ? I did see a link on someone's Facebook page today describing it as "The worst event in history"

Re: Today I'm neither Angry nor Happy about....
Neither angry nor happy, just a little surprised at my male offspring. My older son decided he needed an 80' high definition Sharpe TV to make his life complete. Helping to put that on the wall nearly killed me.

Then my younger son decides to buy his first car. At over $100,000 he acquired an all electric Tesla S. A very exciting car but you have to plan any trip over 300 kms in terms of places you can recharge, not all of which are free. Most Canadian Tesla superstations still in the planning stage. I advised against the practicality of this but youth will be served. Well, it was his own money.
