No, no, no no no no no no no no, just no.

Won the SPL by dint of having a budget 20x his closest challengers, and is a complete arsehole to boot.

If you're going for ex-tim, then MacKay is the clear choice. Jackie Mac from Utd another good shout (whoever said that).
Agree. Lennon is a disaster waiting to happen when a club takes a punt on him.

I touted Jackie Mac, really surprised he is not on any of the bookies lists, he's not even down at the bottom with the Amir Kahn's and Vernon Kay's at 1000/1...

Welcome back fat man... Where have you been???
TY, and I moved home to Aberdeen (divorce inspired) and kinda lost much interest in English fitba tbh. I make the odd visit on here, but no point posting as I don't have anything to add. Except, Lennon being an arsehole obviously

I'd hate Phil Brown in charge. Yeah, he played for us and was assistant for a while but so what? He's an egotistical terrible manager, and very divisive. People say "he knows the club"...what the hell is that supposed to mean? This isn't the 50s when people had jobs for life, he doesn't know the players, the coaches, the scouts, the dieticians, the physios or anyone else, bar a kit man and a woman whose served pies for a few decades. It's not a valid argument at all.

Hughton, Clarke, Mackay, McDermott should be the preferred choices. Of the young managers mentioned, Karl Robinson looks like he knows what he's doing and I'd much prefer a gamble with someone like him than accepting a failure like Brown.

I think I really, really don't want as a manager someone who has posted derogatory messages about 'chinkys', Jews, Gays, Blacks and women. He's only missed out 'pakis' on the list, and since, as our charming friends from Wigan like to remind us, 'we're just a town full of pakis' perhaps we should wait until he's had the mind-opening operation.

Hughton from that list.

Did you say earlier that you actually talk like this?

Do you find that a lot of your conversations end with your counterpart saying the word "...yeah", and then turning to talk to somebody else?

Give him time to get it out of his system.

Whoevers up next, and really I'm not bothered unless Gartside manages to plumb the depths with another Megson-style fiasco, I'll be happy enough just to stay up. The clubs in a f*cking mess, the squads f*cking appalling. Fingers crossed we're not heading to oblivion.

Sssshhh. I've told you. You have to pretend you understand him, or you just aren't cool, or wise.
Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

You can add me to thicko corner for this one. I understand much of his postings, but they're hard work just as text speak is.

Heh, Mick the coach driver. I'm sure he's a nice bloke and a decent footballing brain (no fool-sufferer, Fergie) but what does he know about sourcing players from the third and fourth divisions? Balancing books? Managing a team? I fear he would combine the worst elements of my fear (lack of relevant knowledge) with a lot of other people's (lack of experience).

:D A1 is claiming that it is predictable that WtW's choice of manager is someone who A1 alleges (without corroboration) to be a black communist - WtW often being found on what might be described as the "left" of any political discussion rather than the right...

he goes on to allude to the Mackay texting controversy by imagining a situation where Hughton (somehow) texts a version of the old board-game "Landlord's Game" (the precurser to Monopoly which was devised to show how landlords impoverish tenants) - only hughton has doctored the squares with stalinist propoganda to make it even more explicit - and is then found out in the same way that Mackay was and (presumably) hounded in the press - A1 (it seems) thinks that Mackay's hounding was unfair/exaggerated/unwarranted - this is (presumably) what he is reacting to.

A1 then congratulates himself on being doubly topical.

happy to help! 8)

BN reporting that sources close to Mackay have said he'd be interested...Mcginlay, loyal to a fault, thinks it's "made" for JP or Browny.

Only reposting this so that those who are touting MacKay have a fuller picture. This doesn't strike me as a slip-of-texting-thumb or heat of the moment bigotry. All these are connected to his role as manager of Cardiff City (i.e. in some way work-related). You might be charitable and say number 4 is just blokey banter, and number 5 is only borderline homophobia. Even allowing that (and allowing that Vincent Tan might well be a megalomaniac arsehole), the other four comments make him IMNSHO unsuitable to be manager of our football club.

"On the arrival of South Korean international Kim Bo-Kyung:
'Fkn chinkys. Fk it. There's enough dogs in Cardiff for us all to go around.'

On Phil Smith, football agent:
'Go on, fat Phil. Nothing like a Jew that sees money slipping through his fingers'

On a list of transfer targets:
'Not many white faces amongst that lot but worth considering.'

On a player's female agent:
'I hope she's looking after your needs. I bet you'd love a bounce on her falsies.'

On an official at another club:
'He's a snake, a gay snake. Not to be trusted'

...and sent to members of Cardiff's staff
A picture entitled Black Monopoly - where every square was a "Go to Jail" square"

This a massively tough decision for me as I'm not chuffed we're associated with an alleged racist, sexist, anti-Semite but then he's a steady hand type of Football Manager.

On the other hand Hughton just comes across as a really thoroughly decent bloke, he took a very divided Birmingham side and kept them up against the odds. Took Norwich up from this division and only really struggled once in the Premier League.

Browny wouldn't be my first choice
Pfffft.

'Alleged' is the slippery term here, TKIZ. MacKay doesn't deny sending the texts, just says he isn't racist etc. I think I'd need to hear more from him, both by way of explanation and sincere apology, before I could begin to understand how the sender of such texts isn't racist (and the rest).

Some here argue he deserves a second chance. I don't disagree with that - just not yet and not with my club. It's not so hard to say sorry when your bigotry looks like fecking up your career. Takes more to really be sorry and set about building bridges.

Agree with you about the other two, btw.
