Next Up - Freeman's Replacement

Right. I have it on the best authority from Nixon. :-)

We're not looking at anyone who's currently in gainful (I guess that means as a football manager).
We're looking to interview 4 (but have a much longer list to narrow down)
Seems to be suggesting that MacKay, Hughton, Lennon all in the frame (McDermoot and Hill not).
It will be resolved before the next game we play.

Wow. I can't wait to go and buy tomorrows #SuperSoarawaySun. to read the article (if it makes it) :-)

I guess the not looking at anyone who's currently in gainful is so we don't have to pay any compo.

It's a shame if McDermott has said he's not interested. I hope to hell he isn't and we've kicked him off the pile !

Mackay has an air of current controversy. I hope that's in their thinking at least. Personally I'd prefer to avoid that though he's a decent enough manager.

Hughton and Lennon offer something. Lennon concerns me as he makes Allardyce at his post narrow defeat worst seem like a pussy cat.

But all of them have more about them than the last chancer.

I don't think people should be overly worried or stressed at all by a1. If you don't understand it - move on - nobody will die! We get that some posters don't understand - no need to to tell us every single time he posts! He's fairly harmless...

(much the same is/was true about Dan's spelling.)
is this same a1 that you believed was worthy of your words of advice yesterday, which in the form of all true trolls chose to ignore?

He reckons plenty of names have applied, of which we will look to speak to four. All of them are available. Suggests that some of the interested parties may become less interested when they become fully aware of our situation.

Hughton and Mackay are two of the four. The other two aren't...

Tony Pulis
Phil Brown
Jimmy Phillips
Billy Davies
Keith Hill
Tony Mowbray
Brian McDermott

He also says Neil Lennon wants it, so I presume he's also in the four.

If true, and the likes of Mackay, Hughton and Lennon are interested, why the feck did we carry on with Freedman for so long?
Oops - missed this - sorry Tom, posted nearly the same thing...

Brown? Phil Brown? For goodness fecking sake. Why on earth would any football club beyond the standing of, well, Southend, be considering a man who's clearly no better a manager than he was a player? The man's a fecking suntanned disaster!

Agreed on Lennon. Seems really switched on when I've seen him as a pundit and I wouldn't be totally against him but there's a risk it could go nuclear!

I can't say I'd be thrilled by the prospect of Lennon, but you have to say, he'd handle the pressure, given he's had bullets through the post etc....

Yep. I'm not saying I get every reference (!) but it seems a little sus to me that throughout his wanderings across the boards the only time a1 gets grief is when what he's saying (which I understand, people totally don't get) contradicts the views of the people getting het up. Pfft, beats me.

There is some logical slippage along the way here - if, indeed, they are getting 'het up' (nice turn of phrase) because he is contradicting them, it would seem they must have a handle on what it is he is saying; and yet (in irate "voices" and carrying torches and pitch forks) they claim not to have the foggiest.

I suspect it is a combination of (a) he writes like he's composing clues for an infuriatingly obscure crossword puzzle (but giving neither Down nor Across) and (b) even when sense can be made, there is a suspicion (though perhaps only in weary old grouches like Bobo) that he is being deliberately contrarian and doesn't actually believe a word he says.
