What are you eating and drinking tonight?

If you have a life outside of BWFC, then this is the place to tell us all about your toilet habits, and those bizarre fetishes.......

Toad in the Hole (or - frog in the bog as we used to hilariously refer to it in our house)

I haven't had that in YEARS!!! I am quite tempted to have a go... that recipe, though - EIGHT eggs??? Granny obviously had chickens and times were not as frugal as grandparents make out!!

Toad in the Hole - I lump that in with other old traditional dishes that my mum usd to make - but you rarely see today - like Stew and dumplings...

i fancy some dumplings now
...
There was ox-tail stew and dumplings at the Big Top on Thursday. Unbelievably good.

tbh, your reverendshipness, I think the World DOES know. It's just you who doesn't.
Even I know who James Martin is and I'm shit on toast when it comes to that sort of thing.

Never heard of him here, either. Although looking on Google, I recognize him from the tellybox. :-)

It was either Dean Martin or James Dean.

Chicken chasseur in the oven and smelling well fit. A lovely 2008 Tuscan Sasso al Poggio on the go. Feeling no pain here whatsoever. 8)

I know people will be sceptical, I was sceptical myself, but my sister-in-law recommended a Spanish merlot from Aldi. Now, i like Aldi - do a fine job, but this one retails at £3.29. (This is not a typo!).

It should, by rights, at that price, be totally undrinkable.

It is, in fact, very drinkable. and is about to accompany the Monday night pasta putannesca.

This is worth a go - I've tasted stuff at £6 or 7 not as good.

I know what you are saying but I had the opportunity to tour round the Thwaites Brewery a few years for my job. It involved a full site inspection including the places not normally seen by visitors. Up in the roof space were all the individual ingredients for making beer and lager (You will be surprised how many different beers they brew for other breweries and supermarket own brands).

I asked the question who has the best quality hops and other ingredients. The answer was very surprising in that it was Aldi's own beer (cans). So your comment is surprising but it appears not uncommon when it comes to alcohol.

Yep - for years they had a Macon-Villages for under a fiver (now, alas, vanished). This was followed by an Albarino from Galicia for a fiver (which also seems to have gone the way of all flesh). But this one is head-shakingly not possible... I don't want to exaggerate - it is only 'decent' midweek drinking - but it is also only £3.29!

Not for £3.29 a chuck they don't.

Well. I got 4 bottles to try (if I don't go for a wine first time I feel it deserves a second go), so you'll know about it if I'm forcing those third & fourth bottles down. They took some finding .... all on the very bottom, in boxes. You'd have to be a terrific short-arse to see them quickly .... Billy.
