Who can resist a good opera with a drinking song in it?

I'd rather boil my head in piss, but thanks.clapton is god wrote:Four tickets just booked (on sale today) for Count Arthur Strong at The Lowry next February. Form an orderly queue, no pushing at the back.
Further - I've just noticed that a new series of the equally excruciating Citizen Khan is about to air.

Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

Well, it looks like there's one place that LE and I won't be going to on a Saturday evening for a while. The D&P

that's Bobo, that is... he didn't understand whether he should be parking outside or inside! He opted for both...
Re: Where are you going tonight?
Really gutted about this, great staff, regulars and live music. Looks like it will be knocked down. The only place in Bolton town centre with any character apart from the Old Man and Scythe. Fortunately it was quiet and the staff had nipped out for a fag, nobody hurt.
Farewell to pretty much the only dickhead-free zone in town.

Maybe the driver was shocked to see Dannii Minogue nipping in for a swift half.
Really, really hoping that they don't have to pull the place down now because of this. The place has brought a new meaning to my Saturday evenings.

A once and future venue.
Used to love the D&P
Started many a fantastic Saturday night in there.
Up the hill to the Brass Cat, Blue Boar, Man and Scythe, The Swan and then over to Sundowners for the rock disco.
Thirsty now.........................

Didn't the Boars.Head revert to the Brass Cat,.after having been known as that years before? Or am i thinking of another name that it used to be knowm by? I did think that the Blue Boar is a bit out of the way from the other pubs mentioned by GtE.LeverEnd wrote:I remember that name but not the pub. The Brass Cat was the Golden Lion (The Brass Cat was its nickname). The Boars Head was further along Churchgate towards the Parish Church by The Gatehouse Cafe (in which me and my mates used to idle away the hours of our teens) and a chippy. They knocked them down to build a tax office.Burnden Paddock wrote:Didn't the Boars.Head revert to the Brass Cat,.after having been known as that years before?
