I'm shit at stuff like that. Struggle to walk downstairs etc. Keep meaning to condition myself better before running but simply can't be arsed!
Anyway, will be doing parkrun again Saturday. I may be accompanying an attractive young woman from my club, who is just starting running again. I'm the supportive teammate type. *halo*
Sealing the deal with a Sainsbury's breakfast afterwards? :D

Probably Asda, not paying Sainsburys prices unless I'm sure I have a chance.

Ouch. I think I must have torn something - can barely move. Have had to cancel everything I'd planned for today, may even have to miss the match. Chances of me running 5K tomorrow are currently very doubtful.

Sunday will see the final run of week 6 - I'm on an 8 week programme so the fun starts now

Did week 6 day 2 around Thorns Road (AB) last night - piece of piss compared to Harwood

May do Sundays stint around Jumbles

And Bruce, that injury is cos you're now a finely tuned thoroughbred

What hurts?

10-1 it's that workout thing you did. You've probably used a muscle you haven't previously through just running.

It's exactly that, Fella. Abs, inner thighs and shoulders. Could certainly use those tips on warming up properly when you have a mo'.

CAPS - why don't you run over by mine? It's much flatter than where you are. I'll PM you my 5K route if you like. And you wouldn't be calling me a thoroughbred if you just seen me going upstairs on all fours! :(

Aye, sorry. Been a bit busy this last week. I'll get something down and send it over later.

Woah, woah, woah. Don't be apologising, Chief. I wasn't expecting to hear from you.

I'm annoyed with myself though because I'm on a bit of a roll / getting somewhere with the running and at the moment I can't even stand up straight.

Stay away from bootcamps. They're for far more flexible people than the like of me and thee.

Take a couple of Ibuprofen every 4 to six hours for a couple of days too. Should help with the painful muscles. And drink lots of water. You need to be doing about two litres throughout the day.

:D You're not wrong. I think I'll just be happy to deveolp my running with the odd session on the cross trainer chucked in. Ibuprofen hasn't touched it (next stop - red wine) but I have been drinking water all day. It'll sort itself in time. Guess i'm just in for a very lazy weekend.

Ibuprofen isn't so much for the pain (that IS where the wine comes in); it's an anti-inflammatory too, so is useful for a few days after any muscle strains/ things with swelling.

Honestly, the first time I did both spin or high-intensity circuit session I was dead the day after, the week after slightly less though, and then after that sore but OK. Sounds like you're doing really well with the running, but I'd be adding something 'core-y' in, just tightens up your back etc and stops it hurting the more running you do. If you've got the self-discipline, something like Bish's sit-ups and crunches thing might work (there's all sorts of 30 day 'Super Abs' work outs on the web), but I needed a class environment to make myself to do it!

I've been taking Ibuprofen quite often recently for toothache. Ironically, one of the things I had to cancel today was the consultation as it needs to be extracted under sedation. Yeah, this has basically sent home the message that whilst the running's going well (thanks) and I'm getting weight off at a steady rate the rest of me requires work. Planking, sit-ups and press-ups it is then. :gulp:

Perhaps I'd be better doing that away from the class environment. The bootcamp class I did was with the somewhat lithesome wife of a mate and their 16 year old daughter, who've been doing it for yonks. Of course, one's inner wanker doesn't want one to be seen as being unable to keep up.

I needed that "must look good" motivation. Mine was the fact that each of those classes seemed only to be taken by me, one fat bloke and 15 assorted stunning women! Sucked the first few days after, but I certainly put my all into it :D. When I tried to do it on my own in the park, the same "intensity" wasn't quite there!

These macho bootcamp type things are ok for youngsters, but I've learnt my lessson. There's no way of easing yourself into them, it's just stright in at the deep end, and it's just asking for trouble unless you're in decent all-round condition. Stick to pilates with the ladies like I do!

With the dark evenings and wet weather having set in I've tret missen to a fluorescent yellow, waterproof, Ron Hill jacket thingy. Now, it's not raining tonight but I thought I'd use it for the Wednesday 5K. Bastard thing condensates inside. I arrived home wetter than the old haddock's bathing costume. :(
