Helicobactor. Horrible, horrible complaint. Like bad indigestion, but ten times worse. Had it a couple of times before, first time had the camera down the throat and was disgnosed. Doctor described it as your insides looking and feeling like they've been sandpapered. Been to the docs today after not eating anything for three days and having bouts of sickness for a couple of days. Pains in the abdomen are fierce enough to keep you awake nights. Been having early nights, which just isn't me.

Anyway, hoping the prescribed tablets will sort it and I don't have to lose my record of never spending a night in a hospital bed. Not a lot of fun at all, believe me. Come on you Whites... :|

Had it for years, so you have my sympathy TD. They usually prescribe Omaprazole (or some of the other -zoles) along with an antibiotic. That often helps it, but clearly you can't stay on the antibiotic for long, so hopefully it sorts it out for you mate. I now take something called pantoprazole every day...seems to do the trick.

Good grief. I've had a couple of gastroscopies myself for suspected hiatus hernias (which I didn't have) which sound like a walk in the park when compared to what you describe there, Tango. In the end I've had to avoid certain foods which has worked very well, could that be a possible issue for you?

Either way, look after yourself and get well soon.

Aye, get better soon. (Omaprazole is pretty efficacious.)

Thanks all for the wishes.
Worthy, they've put me on Lansoprazole capsules. If it doesn't clear it, blood test and the camera again.
Bruce. Afraid you're right about what I eat. I've been very careless for years but I'm determined to change me habits. I beat smoking and hardly ever drink these days, so it can be done. Just needed a wake-up call, if a rather nasty one. On and up.

I must admit I had never heard of this strain of bacteria, though I was familiar with the various complaints it can cause. Best of luck slaughtering the tiny bastards!

Cheers Bob. Got on the Lansporazole tablets right away and they're good stuff. Pain's eased right off and I've eaten today. Doc's put me on one per day for a week to start and I'm hoping I don't have to go back as I have a month's supply. If I do, it's the camera, but I know the symptoms and going off last time, I'm pretty sure what they'll diagnose.

Helicobacter pylori (commonly just called H. pylori) is a bacterium (germ). It can infect the lining of the stomach and duodenum. It is one of the most common infections in the UK although it is getting less common as time goes by. More than a quarter of people in the UK become infected with H. pylori at some stage in their life. Once you are infected, unless treated, the infection usually stays for the rest of your life.

Yep. 19C. I normally look forward to the cooler weather, but I think I must have finally acclimatised, as that felt proper cold :(

Even colder this morning

I think the problem is that virtually every morning I open the curtains to sunshine and my brain just assumes it is hot. I'm just hoping my jeans and jumpers still fit as I may have put a few pounds on this summer

I can't escape the feeling that I'm being slowly phased out at work.

On the one side it's understandable as I'm leaving in Jan, and maybe I should even be happy as it allows me more time to come up with ideas or doss.

It's annoying however as it's got to the point where I'm not being invited or even aware of meetings which, given i'm still here for the next seven weeks, I feel I should be at. And it's not like I'm leaving the company, either.

Hmmm.

Found out today that there's a beach in Cornwall called "Lusty Glaze". After following that to it's logical end I'm never eating Crispy Creme again :vomit:
