Now those, I've never seen any organised campaigns against, nor have I ever seen the twatterati get into the tizz they are about Rosetta. Which after all is the reason I'm angry.
So what pisses you off about all this, apart from me?

Those campaigns aren't based on those things being a waste of money though.

I tend to agree with you, Spotty. 1000 millions over 25 years is 40 millions per annum. There are 20 member nations funding the ESA thus the average contribution is just 2 millions p.a. This has to be qualified: the Rosetta project is just one of ESA's activities and each nation contributes different amounts which are based on that nation's GDP.

Whilst I haven't bothered to check I doubt that such 'profligate' expenditure would make much difference to the over all spending made by governments to further scientific research should it be withdrawn. Australia on its ownsomelonesome funds research in just radio astronomy to the tune of AUD17 millions p.a. There is also funding for 'visual' astronomy (I haven't had the time to dig out that cost) including the Australian Telescope - which used to be the Anglo-Australian Telescope until the U.K. withdrew from the alliance. Still, the 2 millions per year for countries with GDPs in the trillions seems but a drop in the ocean.

Yeah, but you could probably have covered mainland UK in baby incubators for that money. If you'd wanted.

An ex GF of mine who I'm still very good friends with, well, she has a 14 year old daughter. On Friday evening one of her school-friends, a 15 year old boy who's originally from Nairobi, hung himself, leaving a simple "Bye" on his Facebook page. Nobody can work it out. Ex gf's daughter was talking with him only a few hours before and she says that he was seemingly happy about going to a party that evening. If you're reading this then you're probably wondering as to why I'm posting such an unbelievably sad story in the 'Angry' thread.

I appreciate improvement but the quantity, duration and sheer yardage closed off for quite small workings are making short nip-to journeys a real mess.

The town has 36 sets of roadworks ongoing or about to start just in this one average sized town. There are others all over Chester and onto the Wirral and to the east of here plus into Shropshire ... & that's before even thinking about the motorways.

You can never put in place too many routes, to bypass a Welsh town.

Certainly we should be angry about racist graffiti. However, this apparently took place after the suicide. The suicide itself seems incomprehensible based on the information given about the poor lad. I suppose more will emerge. A difficult time for the classmates.

It looks like the police have charged a couple of teenagers over the graffiti. If they are guilty then they are obviously mentally challenged as, although the rest of the filth indicates that they were intended to be Nazi swastikas, they weren't.

I imagine they won't be very popular locally, and would hope they get the extremely unconfortable time they deserve. They've pleaded guilty it seems.

Not that I'm angry about it, but as it was discussed on here Sheff Utd have now withdrawn training invitation to Ched Evans.

Is he about to sign for Wigan? I'm sure dinosaur dave has some views on the case.

Somehow I respect them even less! They should have thought about it properly before they did it. Either they genuinely believe he's rehabilitated and should play football again, in which case I'd disagree but at least they'd have had the nuts to do what they believe; or, they think he might be innocent depending on the result of the CCRC review and potential appeal, in which case let him train until that's done and then decide either way; or, decide that that's not the sort of role model you want for your young supporters and so don't let him train int he first place; instead, they appear to have thought "he's quite good at football so we'd like him back even thought he's a shit, let's chance it, oh no it's got tough, let's f*ck him off".
