Re: Mavies
Exactly, terrible start, Danns doing all the work, then a brilliant 2nd half. Showed his skills but the bit that stands out fr me was when their striker would have been in on goal after getting past our defence, but for Mavies running all the way back and chucking himself in front of him to snuff out the chance.Worthy4England wrote:Have they put something in the water, in Bolton? He was nearly anonymous first half (and that first 10/15 mins, totally so). Not just him of course, Clayton looked lost and Feeney could have sat in a deckchair. When we went at them second half, he was excellent.

He's out for four months with a knee injury. Unbelievable. Could be damaging for our season.

Re: Mavies
Fcking hell. Thought he looked very good centrally v wigan, ironically as chungy has nabbed his number 10 role.
Lets hope spearing has had his eyes tested in the last couple of weeks.

the very last thing Mavis getting injured and being out for months is - is "unbelievable"... it's fecking sure-fire inevitable! We have all been predicting it for weeks!Jugs wrote:He's out for four months with a knee injury. Unbelievable. Could be damaging for our season.
Re: Mavies
this is a bit strong, surely??
The midfielder, cursed with injuries during his Wanderers career, had been in god form since the arrival of Neil Lennon as manager.

Re: Mavies
Training injury? Poor lad. At least Holden has someone to hang out with?
At least Chungy has shown that he is more than capable in CM. Chance for Medo to prove his worth to Lennon as well.

Re: Mavies
I wouldn't have thought so. Sparky's been playing as one of the two deeper midfielders, whereas Eidur would surely come in as a striker, or, if he has dropped a bit deeper, a back-up for Chungy's current role. He almost certainly wouldn't be playing as a deep lying midfielder.thebish wrote:it might strengthen Eidur's claims...
It's put Spearing back in the starting line-up by default, but will probably allow Lennon to have a look at a player he hasn't seen in a match situation yet - Medo.

Re: Mavies
I wanted us to offer Eagles a new deal once Dougie fecked off. He'd be really useful now

Re: Mavies
Eidur might not be a like for like replacement, but given how short we now look on people who can actually play football, we might have to shuffle things around to get him in. For tomorrow I think Vela should get the nod.
I think we'll probably get a loan in, whether up front or in midfield I'm not sure. Did Barry Bannan ever end up anywhere?

He didn't. Nor did Scott Sinclair, who has recently woken up down the back of Man City's coach and expressed a desire to get first-team football somewhere, anywhere.Tombwfc wrote:Did Barry Bannan ever end up anywhere?

We're ok as long as Chungy stays fit.

Re: Mavies
Sadly, this isn't a surprise. Mavies has knees made of jelly and if I'm being honest, he's done no better than ok when he's played this season.
If we were pushing for promotion he would be a bigger miss. A chence for someone to shine and impress the boss.

Re: Mavies
Lousy luck. I be the lad's well fed up as well as the club and fans. Just when it was all working nicely. Ah well, we'll get round it and just hope he recovers quickly. We seem jinxed where good mid-fielders are concerned.
