ok - for all those who seemed so confident that the tories were the answer to UK debt and wouldn't be big borrowers like Labour were...

from the famously anti-tory Telegraph..
It’s now all but certain the UK will post a sixth successive year of triple-digit, billion-pound deficits, five of them under the Tories. Osborne has borrowed more in his half-decade as Chancellor than his predecessor Gordon Brown did during a decade at the Treasury. The Conservatives’ 2010 “emergency Budget” said the books would be balanced by next year. Official projections now suggest that won’t happen until 2018-19.
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/finance/econ ... -debt.html

When the Tories took office, total government debt was £811bn. On last week’s figures, it’s now £1,451bn – an 80pc rise in just five years, with a lot more to come.

Mere facts should be taken with a pinch of salt until George has had time to consult with the OBR! I wouldn't be at all surprised if the OBR were to make some kind of optimistic/congratulatory statement before the next PMQs.

Sturgeon, who will also become Scotland’s first minister this week when Salmond formally stands down, said: “Think about how much more we could win for Scotland from a Westminster Labour government if they had to depend on SNP votes.

“They’d have to deliver real powers for our parliament. They’d have to rethink the endless austerity that impoverishes our children.

“And, conference, hear me loud and clear when I say this: They’d have to think again about putting a new generation of Trident nuclear weapons on the river Clyde.”
I'd sign a pact with the devil before letting this bitch and her bunch of Rob Roy's anywhere near real power!

SNP, Me, me, me!

You can't just quote borrowing numbers without looking at the trend of the deficit of what it was like in 2010.

Too slow to bring it down? Yes I think that's fair, but the alternative in Ed Miliband doesn't even consider this a big enough issue to mention in his party speech!

I doubt including Royal Mail's sale would make much of a dent, considering the giveaway price, but there you go!
You can judge the whole world on the sparkle that you think it lacks.
Yes, you can stare into the abyss, but it's staring right back.

David Cameron: "we will win back Rochester in general election".

Just like

"We won't be paying any EU bill"

"We will have a referendum in 2017"

"March of the Makers to re-balance economy".

"No top down reorganisation of the NHS"

"Big Society"

Go on Dave, any more?

Thought this was funny about labours latest problem:
Toff at the trough forgets to wipe her snout before she tweets. Chief toff doesn't want his cover blown so knocks her off the teat.

Those influential tree huggers were the only party to increase their vote (apart, obviously from UKIP).
Maybe, just maybe, the influential tree huggers need a Mr Farage type to propel themselves forward.
Or maybe, just maybe, democracy is a pile of shit.
That's not a leopard!

Osborne and Cameron and hoboh have cooked up a pie-chart that will be printed on your tax statement...

some think that it is possible that it is presented misleadingly and with an agenda...

Why do you lump me in with those two idiots? I'm not one of 'them' anymore than members of your profession are merely rebel Vatican preachers!

It's genuinely vile! I tend to shy away from the personal attacks on DC and GO's background and the ad hominem but the combination of dishonesty and arrogance at thinking they wouldn't be caught is staggering in this case.

Be more kind, my friends, try to be more kind.

It is a disgrace but will it stop many people voting for them? People wonder how they think they can get away with it, the answer being that most people won't bat an eyelid. They'll think 'politiicians being lying wankers' again and then vote (or not) exactly as they would have anyway.
