Never ones to accept missing out on business are they, bloody leeches! The lack of any effective check or oversight by the courts on the home secretary’s new powers to impose temporary exclusion orders for up to two years on British citizens returning from Iraq or Syria has been strongly criticised by the official counter-terror laws watchdog.
“My central concern is where are the courts in all this?” David Anderson QC has told MPs

"specific non-unemployment benefits"
- could mean owt, and is a massive wedge on their chart, which is what theyre (richard murphy et al are) blaming the "welfare" chunk on the chancellors ones.
they also say theyve accurately re-presented george o's own numbers.
the osbourne ones look personal to the individual judging from the "here's how your tax was spent" chart, which might be confusing to members of "Tax Researchers UK" as they carnt just turn it back to the presses with adverts on the side without getting the abbacus out.
if theyve used george's numbers , you wouldnt think , say, "defence" or "pensions" or "education" could be re-configured or broken down even more. but theyre different on that website's chart compared to george's.
ie, the defence number they claim is 4.02% .. if they are right the guy with the 11 grand tax bill should be paying about £480 on defence, if theyre wrong he's paying about 5.3% of his bill on 'defence' .
not sure how or why theyve done that. i've only looked at those two charts , but their stuff seems wrong. certainly not accurate enough to boast about. it might be a waste of money from the cons-libs , but those guys , who from the comments had agriculture listed twice on theirs, cussing out other people for shit maths and assuming people dont know 'welfare' doesnt just mean 'dole money' is a bit much.
maybe it carnt be 'generalised' in a "cut these into 100 pieces" way , but i dont even think the poll tax was that 'even' (VAT might be, but even then..) i might be wrong , but i havent tried out thinking people that ,i presume, do that stuff for a living and have been saught out by the government to do it for them.
i think i'll 'trust' george and his mates more than two random websites looking for advertisement click thru pennies.
terrible.. and i'm not even sure i'm right.

Specific Non-unemployment benefits are Sickness and Disability, Tax Credits, Family and Children and Housing benefits.
I think you're rather missing their points they're trying to make, although they're both trying to tell you what they want you to hear.
The reason the % are different, is the the voxpolitical numbers they've added in, tax reliefs at source, which are excluded from the Chancellor's numbers.

What the SNP want now is to have her cake and eat it. She wants all the benefits of independence with the safety of being in the United Kingdom.Hoboh wrote:http://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2014 ... parliament

I am also sick of the politicians saying this this is a good thing for England. More devolution for England giving the cities and councils the power to spend the money how they want. Given the incompetence of the Bolton Council feckwits, I am confident that the money will be wasted on more hair-brained ideas that are bound to fail.

Re: The Politics Thread
england didn't really want devolution until we started giving more powers to the scots! it's just sheer bloody-mindedness! even if we don't actually want it - we'll demand it if they have it...

I was surprised at the verdict initially. He sounds like a grade a Tw*t but I was prepared to believe he hadn't used the pleb word since he was so vehement about it.thebish wrote:Andrew Mitchell loses his libel case against the police officer - judge says he is pretty damn sure that Mitchell DID call him an f'ing pleb... One thing that interests me - the other bobbies involved who leaked the story to the press were said to have lost their jobs & their pensions. How does that work? Surely the money they've paid into the scheme cant be taken off them can it?

Re: The Politics Thread
Ho Ho Ho as a certain red coated white bearded chap would say.Natalie Bennett, the Green party leader, says David Cameron should not be presenting immigration as a problem.
This is a speech addressing non-existent problems - the government has not been able to produce evidence of systemic ‘benefits tourism’ or ‘health tourism’.
We have major problems in Britain with low wages, with housing shortages and high costs, with crowded schools and hospitals. These are not caused by immigration, but by failures of government policy.
So employers pay good wages when they can access a pool of cheap labour from certain EU countries who are happy to live 10 to a room or shed? If they bring family over their kids take school places and need hospitals, right.
Not in touch Miss Aussie?

NHS is getting more money than it ever has, it's where its going, PFI payments, middle managers salaries, generous pensions and sick pay schemes etc.An inadequate minimum wage, inadequately enforced, is a key issue. Another is housing policy - continuing the privatisation policy that is Right to Buy, failing to allow councils to borrow to build new council homes, encouraging runaway private sector rents. And the NHS needs investment, schools need to be brought back under local authority control to allow sensible planning and resource use.
Would you trust the fat controller and his commie socialist muckers to run education correctly!
I thought people said the Tree huggers were sensible sounds more like old left wing control all Labour policies!

UK Police definitely pay something in. I wonder if they get their contributions returned to them in this instance but lose the employer's wedge and any tax relief they would have got?Montreal Wanderer wrote:Some pensions are paid without the employee paying anything in, although I have no idea how UK police pensions work.Harry Genshaw wrote:I was surprised at the verdict initially.
