He can put in those tackles, actually pass the fecking thing to a man that's 20 feet away from him and has a decent shot about him. Also, I don't think enough credit is being given to the way Huddersfield defended as a unit here. The way that they held us on the 18 yard line was nothing short of expert. It was always ever going to take a piece of genius to spring it and Chungy provided it.
I would hazard a guess and say that Medo hasn't particularly done anything to piss off Lennon. My guess is that neither Medo or Spearing particularly fit Lennon's immediate game plan. That's not to say that the players won't be effective in a different formation but its more a case of if we're having players in the midfield doing holding roles then they might as well be able to create things further up the pitch (Danns for example).

Towards the end of the first half I remember Clayton getting the ball on the right wing in a position where I'd want him to run down the wing and get a cross in... and didn't. Then, next time, a few seconds later, in a similar position Danns comes across to help overlap and he cuts inside. I don't know if he was told to do that but just seemed odd.Prufrock wrote:Only caught the second half but thought Feeney and Clayton were pretty anonymous.
First half.. it seemed like Feeney on the left, Chungy in the middle and Clayton on the right. Second half.. it seemed to change around more than before, so Feeney could get crosses in from the right, and Chungy seemed to be either in the middle or on the left.
Fair play to NL for changing things around a little, saying a few words and winning with the same players on the pitch.
The players you fail to sign never lose you any money.

What I would say about Feeney is that defensively, he's very sound. Never see the oppo left back get behind him and Huddersfirkds LB was bloody quick too.SmokinFrazier wrote:I thought Feeney made two excellent runs to get in behind their defence and yet both times, the player on the ball played a safe pass instead of putting one into a more dangerous position. I think it may have been Chungy and Vela, though I'm not sure. Those are the sort of runs I love to see though, so full credit to Feeney for making them, but he needs to do that more often and when he does, the player on the ball needs to be aware of his movement. Feeney and Clayton have the speed to get behind a defence, so they should make lots of those runs and any through ball or chip into the penalty box will be dangerous.Bruce Rioja wrote:Not sure why Pratley's picking up plaudits from yesterday. His distribution was no less than utterly appalling. I'm delighted with a 'dug-out' victory but one or two players were poor. As has been mentioned, young Clayton needs to involve / make himself available more often, and I didn't even realise that Feeney was playing until five minutes before half time. I get the impression that he's a bit thick in that he never seems to realise where he should be to create an option.
He works hard, almost to the point of detriment because after an hour every week he looks shagged. Lovely play for the goal though and if he gets the assist in a one nil win, I'd be happy to overlook his shortcomings.

Interesting point, that. As an aside, MotD2 pointed out how City's wingers, by tracking back, nullified Southampton's full-backs Clyne and Bertrand and thus strangled the Saints' main production channels. It's a funny old, inverted game, when a winger cancels out a full-back - but then, I'm reminded of Big Phil Scolari after Portugal beat England in 2004, on being asked about Ashley Cole keeping Cristiano Ronaldo out of the game, saying "No, Cristiano kept Cole out of our half"...boltonboris wrote:What I would say about Feeney is that defensively, he's very sound.
