The ball just isn't sticking up front. Our midfield isn't doing enough to protect the defence either, so we're having to put up with lots of pressure. I'm impressed with us defensively but we need more up front and since Clayton went off, we've been the lesser team. His departure made a big difference to the game, I think. We need a spell of possession and a decent attack or two.

Wilkinson had nothing up front and the couple of times he got the ball at his feet, he lost it again.

Most certainly, although I prefer it when their goalie doesn't require a deckchair (Federici spent last week's half-time out practising shot-stopping). After three shots on target in each of the last three games we've dropped to zip. Need a new striker or a plan B.

The substitutions we made had a big effect on our performance. Clayton going off was a problem and if Eidur was match fit, he'd have been an ideal replacement, but bringing on Spearing killed our momentum and they took over as being the better side. We didn't get going again, and were lucky to be 0-0, until Vela came on which, again, had a positive effect on our performance. They were the better team overall, so I'll take a point.

Defensively, this side is in a different world to the one under Freedman. Completely different, far, far superior. Had we not been able to keep hold of the ball under him, this would have been a heavy defeat but we're much more solid at the back now.

The big issue with us, and hopefully it's a problem Eidur can fix, is the lack of creativity in midfield. We miss Davies a lot and even though he's not been out for long, it's made a big difference. Hopefully Chungy can drop deeper and Eidur can play just behind Davies when everyone is fit.

to be fair - he wasn't IN for long either!! how many games has he played this season?

also - there was more than one suicidal ball across the back - any of which could have resulted in a goal for which we would rightly have blamed the defence... had Knight played them rather than Ream...

Very good defensive performance, overall okay. Thought we were the better team until Pratley came off, he's become a big player for us now. Spearing by contrast is absolute dogshit, can't pass a ball, can't win a header. On that showing Wilkinson is not even close to good enough for this level, worst player on the pitch really. Think if we had Cravies, Pratley and Clayton we would've been much better, and could have won. Eidur looked a class act, which is great news. Lonners are you Jussi in disguise?
