"Marc Tierney had an operation which went well but he's still a long-term absentee."

If you're of a conspiratorial mind, it's possible that Lennon was asked directly about Tierney and the 'operation' announcement is just be a placeholder ahead of a future "oh but he's broke down again".

Or it could be that the ITKs are wrong and he'll come flying back to full fitness. You'd hope they'd hope so, eh?

If he's still a long-term absentee a year and two months since he got injured, it's not looking promising to say the least. The new Sean Davis, sadly.

BN
Max [Clayton] is doing okay, he’s another player who seems to get better as the game goes on. He’s a little bit too eager at times, which is the exuberance of youth I suppose. Josh Vela is similar. He’s playing out of position and both are doing a very fine job for us. The experience they are getting is fantastic for them and when you are in a winning team it breeds a lot of confidence. It isn’t ideal for Josh, or for us, because Kev McNaughton is out with his hamstring but sometimes you have to make the best of it, and Josh is holding his own very well. We gave him the responsibility. He’s a good athlete, he’s good on the ball – better than what he showed at times against Huddersfield – but he’s played consistently well since he came into the team.

Quotes from Lennon's press conference, via https://twitter.com/OfficialBWFC/status ... 3600011265" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; et passim

"There is a bit of interest in a few of our players and it's something we're looking at. We're probably looking more towards next week."

"We're also looking at one or two players ourselves. We've hit a few hitches, but we're confident of getting the deals over the line."

"Leeds is a big game for us. We're looking up, but we're also aware we're only six points off the bottom three."

"Leeds are a massive club and I believe they have the right man in charge in Neil Redfearn. It'll be a tough test for us."

"Jay's a fantastic pro and has been good around the dressing room. There is interest in him."

"We're hoping Matt Mills will be fit. Rob Hall is out for the next week or two but Kevin McNaughton comes back into contention."

"We're blessed with two superb goalkeepers. Lonergan has been fantastic since I came in and is one of the best in the division."

NL from this morning's presser, quoted on Twitter https://twitter.com/OfficialBWFC/status ... 5452954627" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; et passim

"Injury-wise, we're as we were against Leeds United last weekend. That aside, we are actively looking to bring players in."

"We have a number of players in mind in a variety of positions, but we will have to see how those prospects play out."

"There is still a big opportunity for us to push forward in the second half of the season - we still have a lot of games to play."

"Sheffield Wednesday will provide us with a big test this weekend - they've been impressive this season, particularly at home."

"Injuries have of course affected us on a creative level, but we still have some very good players at our disposal."

"It was important for Eidur to get his goal last weekend - he's a fantastic player and a great bit of business for the club."

"With Joe [Riley], we felt that at his age it was a good move for all parties if he could get football elsewhere. He's a talented player."

NL from this morning's presser, quoted on Twitter https://twitter.com/OfficialBWFC/status ... 3260131328" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; et passim

NL: Emile Heskey has got a hamstring strain - he'll have a scan today, but he could be out for two to three weeks which is a blow. #BWFC

NL: Recovery time after Liverpool is limited, but we'll ensure they get as much rest as they can tonight ahead of tomorrow evening. #BWFC

NL: Saturday's game was everything you want as a footballer and a manager - it was a great occasion for us. #BWFC

NL: The replay is certainly a game Liverpool could have done without, but it gives us a great chance of progressing. #BWFC

NL: February is a huge month for us - we'll come up against teams in the top half which will be a big test for us as a unit. #BWFC

NL: We need to make sure that we don't hit a bad run of form - we're only looking one way and that is up the table. #BWFC

NL: We're looking at a couple of players this week, so hopefully we'll be able to bolster the squad in the next few days. #BWFC

NL: We have a very important game at Rotherham tomorrow night - it's a clash that we're not going to be taking lightly. #BWFC

Top management skill, knowing when to lay things off.

Lennon when asked about the remarkable turnaround in our defensive performances - 09/01/15
Well it's not me that's turned it round. Johan does a lot of work with them, that's his forte
