Generally agree with what's been said, although ironically having defended Trotter recently, I thought he was poor today.
After Clough, my picks were Vela Pratley and Wheater.
Clough was amazing. I can't recall seeing such confidence on a debut, and in such a key position standing in for our star man. It wasn't just the fact that he ran at them, it was the way he held it up, anticipated, closed down. A complete performance.
Wigan weren't good, apart from 20 mins in the 2nd half, and both keepers were excellent.

...and there was that picture of him on a bender abroad post-game, though the fact that Medo who imo is a good player hasn't had a sniff makes me think Lennon just does not like DM's in the way he set's his teams up. @Dannsy is more of a Quarter-back. Wheater, Chungy and either/both Spearing and Danns may go this window..

What makes you think he's gonna sell Danns?freeindeed wrote:...and there was that picture of him on a bender abroad post-game, though the fact that Medo who imo is a good player hasn't had a sniff makes me think Lennon just does not like DM's in the way he set's his teams up. @Dannsy is more of a Quarter-back. Not a chance Danns is going! Been the main man brought centrally under Lennon, and his energy alongside Pratley has been vital to our success. It's that engine I think Spearing lacks and why Lennon doesn't rate him.

Sorry I meant Medo not Danns!!

It's the done thing to slag Trotter, I get that. He isn't the most gifted midfielder we've ever had (will the real Franck Passi please stand up) but today he was superb. If you can't see that, you need to take off the shit-tinted glasses that colour everything brown and come free at birth and smell the sweet red rose and enjoy today's victory during which he played a huge part in us scoring and them not ok punctuation rules

Anyone remember Sparky's debut v Spurs? From what I've seen and read, Clough's sounded similar with the bonus of a goal.

Well I can only assume that since no-one else has mentioned Trotter since my comment, that you are aiming that at me.Dr Hotdog wrote:It's the done thing to slag Trotter, I get that. I also mentioned that I've been defending the lad and hoping he comes good.
I enjoyed the game very much, was delighted with the result.
I just didn't really notice Trotter's contribution today, others including you did so fair enough, I could be wrong being admittedly a non-expert.

perhaps we can sell him back to liverpool as the natural successor to Gerard?Sponge wrote:Spearing's fall from grace is quite something, though by all accounts he was rubbish for most of the season before Lennon came in. But still – from club captain to nowhere near the team...Dave Sutton's barnet wrote:Looking at the chosen XI, you'd imagine Spearing and Medo will be out before February... if buyers can be found.
Re: FA Cup - Third round at home against Wigan.
Nope, I think there were a couple more who said he wasn't up to much. "shite second half" I seem to recall from someone else. I just can't see how that opinion formed. I think even the manager deservedly singled him out as a star performer today. I've been a critic of him in the past, but today he was excellent and I hope he can maintain.LeverEnd wrote:Well I can only assume that since no-one else has mentioned Trotter since my comment, that you are aiming that at me.Dr Hotdog wrote:It's the done thing to slag Trotter, I get that. His pass for the only goal of the game was as good as CYL's for Clayton's opener versus the same opposition a couple of months back. Undeniably noticeable contribution.

We got eight seconds :Bogdan's save and the goal on MOTD plus a full ten seconds of Lennony's comments. Almost twenty seconds. Fame at last.

Well I must admit I didn't realise that it was his pass, not watched it back yet. I've always thought he showed some good touches, but didn't contribute enough, and I thought he was like that today, remember a decent through ball in the first half, but little else, while Danns and Pratley were busier, and Pratley played very well first half. Wigan were much better in the 2nd half and gave us a game, and I thought our midfield was on the back foot for a lot of it. Fair play for the assist though, long may it continue.

I knew it would be something simple!
The Bolton News wrote:Harold Hesselthwaite, a cabinet maker from Horwich, was reported to have said. "One look and it were obvious. Ones fitted were too small. Took no time to whip 'em off and replace the little beggars with something a bit more robust."
It's been reported the new ones are an industrial model seen here.

Just watched , great pass from Trotter for the goal. Also what an amazing save from Bogdan. Couldn't work out how he got such a powerful header over the bar at the time ans still can't.Dr Hotdog wrote:http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/30668142" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;TANGODANCER wrote:We got eight seconds :Bogdan's save and the goal on MOTD plus a full ten seconds of Lennony's comments.
