Lloyd Dyer is quick. He tore our full back apart last season.

tearing apart our full back is not always an indication of great pace/skill!Jugs wrote:Lloyd Dyer is quick. He tore our full back apart last season.

Commons is 50 weeks younger but yes, your central premise is correct - as long as they're on short contracts, so the outlay doesn't outlast their legs. Finance is the main imperative - that's why we're getting rid of Spearing, one of few players we've got left with any resale value.jaffka wrote:Commons is that age as well.
If they play well and do the job it doesn't matter what age they are.
Thing is, from what I've seen of Dyer – unlike Gudjohnsen, Heskey, Commons and the cast of Dad's Army – his main attribute is pace.
And it may very well not happen: Dyer hasn't been named by a journalist, and even if he were offered in part-ex, he might not fancy the upheaval considering he's never played for a club further north than Leicester.
If he came in and did a job, fine. But I reserve the right to be slightly worried when we appear unable to sign anyone born after the miners' strike.

It's Diego Fabbrini according to the Watford press. 24 yr old udunese import, right wibg, attacking mid or 2nd striker.

How insensitive, D.S.B! I was 35 when the strike happened and I tell you, Captain Mainwaring and co would do us proud.Dave Sutton's barnet wrote:

This particular game was. Blistering.thebish wrote:tearing apart our full back is not always an indication of great pace/skill!Jugs wrote:Lloyd Dyer is quick. He tore our full back apart last season.
Problem Leicester fans have bemoaned in the past is his lack of end product.

I've heard of a number of their players, but not this one.LeverEnd wrote:It's Diego Fabbrini according to the Watford press. 24 yr old udunese import, right wibg, attacking mid or 2nd striker.

Ha! I subbed a feature yesterday about football in 84/85 and it took me right back there, which was downright depressing... sub-4k crowds at Burnden watching a downwardly-drifting team in front of a mysteriously boarded Embrankment ("Oh good, they're redeveloping the ground")...TANGODANCER wrote:How insensitive, D.S.B! ahhh... nippy wingers with no end product - I think we've been there!Jugs wrote:This particular game was. Blistering.thebish wrote:tearing apart our full back is not always an indication of great pace/skill!Jugs wrote:Lloyd Dyer is quick. He tore our full back apart last season.

Pointless worrying as there's nothing you can do about it anyway.Dave Sutton's barnet wrote:Commons is 50 weeks younger but yes, your central premise is correct - as long as they're on short contracts, so the outlay doesn't outlast their legs. I trust the manager, I think he is a good one.

I wasn't gonna lose sleep, like, but while things have improved a lot, I'm not as entirely confident as some. Might help if we ever played well for longer than half an hour.
Still, good to see you're not worried. I respect your right to say the glass is half full; I'm just checking that its contents aren't near the sell-by date...

According to Sky, his finishing is very weak:

At least he gets fouled a lot.
Re: Bijou Bob's Bargain Basement Buys - Jan transfer thread
That's OK, he can stick 'em on a plate for Heskey and Gudjohnsen to gobble up...!Riviman wrote:It is Fabbrini according to watford Observer

I see the club Twitter has gone to the trouble of celebrating a couple of birthdays today. Warming us up for some incoming not-so-new faces?TANGODANCER wrote:How insensitive, D.S.B! @OfficialBWFC: Many happy returns to former Wanderer El Hadji Diouf who turns 34 today! Happy birthday Dioufy!
@OfficialBWFC: There's also birthday wishes for Martin Petrov who celebrates his 36th birthday today!

Many Happy Returns means Happy Birthday rather than "happy return Dioufy", I'm guessing...Not sure we could add another 70 years to the squad in two players.
Then again it could be a warm-up act...what're Campo and Stelios up to at the moment?

I took the piss out of yours.
I was wrong.
Yours was a paragon of activity compared to this, Bijou Bob's effort.

Pfffft.

I disagree with that.Dave Sutton's barnet wrote:Finance is the main imperative - that's why we're getting rid of Spearing, one of few players we've got left with any resale value.
I think we're getting rid because Lennon thinks he's wank. If he thought Spearing was any good he'd be keeping him, maybe even playing him!
Re: Bijou Bob's Bargain Basement Buys - Jan transfer thread
Was really highly rated when he went there - supposed to be one of their "send him off to Watford to get some games then get him back at Udinese" jobs. Turned up at 22 with a full Italy cap. Seems to have been shit ever since.Riviman wrote:It is Fabbrini according to watford Observer
