Seen it somewhere this morning (newsagents) that Commons wants £18,000 a week and we can't meet that?

Re: Bijou Bob's Bargain Basement Buys - Jan transfer thread
Might not just be the basic, but the length and terms. A despicable national newspaper yesterday said that "[Celtic's] negotiations over a new two-year deal have been fruitless with the sticking point believed to be the appearance-related aspect of the second year."
Quoth Celtic boss Deila, somewhat garrulously: "The situation is still the same. We are talking together and will see if something can be agreed. I still think it’s a possibility because we want to keep him and he wants to stay. That’s the most important thing. If I didn’t want him and he didn’t want to stay it would be finished now. I still think a deal can be done. I haven’t given that up. He still has to perform like we all have to do. It works both ways. He’s a very good player and we’ll see if we can do this for a longer period. The situation is very clear. We want him and he wants to stay. It’s about the contract. It’s hard to say how apart we are but we’re not agreeing. And when you do not agree, you do not agree. So we’ll see but we’re in negotiations so we’ll see what’s happening."

Its probably more like Spearing asking to stay until after the Liverpool game for sentimental reasons, and hoping he can play some part of the action.jaffka wrote:BN has an article saying although Spearings loan move to Watford has been agreed Lennon isn't agreeing to it until he gets some players in.

As an aside, Dan'll be chuffed that his mate Adam Blakeman's back in the big time having signed for Ayr United. Good luck, fella.
Ayr United's transfer thread >>> Bob's.

If Kellet isn't playing wing back on the weekend I'll be disappointed.

I think you may be disappointed. Playing against Liverpool is a step or two up from facing Southend, York, Oxford, Newport and Dagenham & Redbridge. Despite recent pleasing deVelapments, Lennon hasn't just automatically thrown in youths until they've proved themselves in training awhile, and even then usually when injuries have left little option: Threlkeld in for injured McNaughton at Norwich then replaced by Vela; Wilko and Clough in absence of other strikers capable of playing two games per week. Lennon has done well to incorporate academy lads into his squad, and you can imagine him imbuing them with self-belief, but I don't think he'd drop Ream (or a centre-back) without just cause.Vertigo wrote:If Kellet isn't playing wing back on the weekend I'll be disappointed.
I'm excited about Kellett's potential, glad to hear he played prospered at Plymouth and particularly pleased that he's happy at wing-back, which would give us tactical options from the start or mid-match. But I don't think Lennon is the type to drop an experienced pro who hasn't been playing badly just because a youngster's back off loan.

hmmmm... might be the domino we need to shift the log-jam on incoming trade... (to mix metaphors badly!)StaffsTrotter wrote:sorry only gossip of another potential outgoing. have palace got loads of cash to spend?
Re: Bijou Bob's Bargain Basement Buys - Jan transfer thread
Palace are after Gestede at the dingles. They want £6m and Palace know that they aren't that far off being on their arse so are holding out. Gestede is getting frustrated and wants to go.

Shit ain't it. An additional £2m is naff all for a prem team who can pay £11m for Gayle. I hope Blackburn stick to their guns and get their asking price.jaffka wrote:Palace are after Gestede at the dingles. "I've got the ball now. It's a bit worn, but I've got it"

Nor is jogging off while someone strolls past you like a walk down the prom, the blokes a girl!!Prufrock wrote:Aye, bravery isn't smashing someone at knee height after the ball has gone.LeverEnd wrote:I'm not interested in his swingers thanks but I think he showed some guts at times. Not physically, but when we were struggling and he was getting grief personally from some, he kept showing for the ball. There's a bravery in that, even if he doesn't like the rough stuff. Once again, I'm interested in what he can do, not what he can't.Hoboh wrote:Look the bloke's hardly Ryan Giggs (I doubt his balls are half the size).
He showed flashes of being a decent player but when needed to buckle down he went awol, Eagles couldn't tackle a one legged sixty year old and providing cover is foreign to him.
Not the type of player Keith or we want thank you!
Now I'm not saying he's going to be the footballing equivalent of Gerard Butler in 300, but he's got a talent we can't afford to sniff at.
He was a bit of a tart at times but so was chungy, and look at him. Darren couldn't play football and look what Lennon has done!

Re: Bijou Bob's Bargain Basement Buys - Jan transfer thread
The whole problem with this thread is the word "BUYS" in the title, completely misleading, if it read "transfers" then it would be sort of acceptable but surely trading standards should now be involved as to the blatant false advertising of us actually "buying" someone

I've fixed this for youfreeindeed wrote:Admin: Can this Bob be permanently banned please?
