Re: The Weather
Snowing pretty heavily here right now. Some sleet mixed in with it and hope it doesn't freeze on top.

I'm sorry, Bruce, but the Egregious Wankers of the Year trophy has been pre-awarded to Owen Coyle and Dougie Freedman from 2014-2018 inclusive. No other nominations can be accepted until January, 2019 (In Perpetuity was considered).Bruce Rioja wrote:I see that the Met Office have come up trumps again.
It's neck and neck between them and BWFC Ticket Office for the 'Egregious Wankers of the Year' award and it's still January!

Re: The Weather
Panic, Panic, Panic alert, they've just shown little snow graphics over the Penines and Cumbria, risk of wintery showers!
Wednesday night Thursday morning we might, might get a scattering of snow on lower grounds making rush hour tricky.
FFS!

A nice drop of rain over the twenty-four hours to 0900 this morning. 58.4mm. In the same period the humidity varied from 98% to 99%. Temperature max was 17.9ºC and min 15.4ºC. Max wind gust 22.3Km/h. Apart from the lack of sunshine it's been a comfortable day.

New Yorkers have come up with a new word - snowperbole.

Re: The Weather
Are they pronouncing it snowperbole as in super bowl or snowperbole as in Sno-per-bo-lee?
Re: The Weather
Does that graph not show that it started to happen 3 million years ago i.e. before humans even existed. Obviously it is accelerating but I'm not sure that will convince the doubters.Hoboh wrote:Panic, Panic, Panic alert, they've just shown little snow graphics over the Penines and Cumbria, risk of wintery showers!

Re: The Weather
Clearly the latter as a reaction to the snowmaggedon warnings. Except of course south of the Mason-Dixon where the former pronunciation is used.Worthy4England wrote:Are they pronouncing it snowperbole as in super bowl or snowperbole as in Sno-per-bo-lee?

Re: The Weather
Well, the snow seems to have passed us by. Sunny and almost cloudless blue sky in the main. That won't last for long and it's bitterly cold amongst it all. Never mind, the wife's just serving up bacon on toast with a mug of hot tea, I think I'll survive.

Beautiful day out there! I got a good walk in along the canal from Stretford to Sale and back, and then around Talbot Road and through Longford Park back to home. A good six mile walk to start the month with.

I beg your pardon, but the puddles are still frozen and there's still patches of snow on the park. That makes it Winter.Montreal Wanderer wrote:Bitterly cold??? It's above zero where you are. Re: The Weather
My sister used to live in Grande Prairie (Canada) where temperatures of -20 were considered normal... when visiting Britain in an ordinary winter she would always remark that is seems much colder over here...

My ex-boss lived in Halifax,Nova Scotia. Always claimed it was the wind-chill factor that made it really cold?
