I have nothing against Twitter as I know little about it, Bijou Bob. The little that has sunk in does not attract me in the slightest. Then again I am a member of the >50 brigade. Apparently, though, some business do use Twitter as a public relations tool. Perhaps a little more research is required in order to understand the system (not that I have any intention of joining the #community).

Granted Dujon. It amuses me somewhat that the only followers my colleagues have, seem to be other colleagues. Doesn't that sort of defeat the object??

Bizarrely enough, it's becoming more of a channel in customer service world. As a for example. Generally, a large "flower chain" have a bit of a fcuking meltdown on Valentine's day. Missed deliveries, dead flowers, wrong order etc. You can try calling their Customer NoService phone number, but it doesn't actually get you anywhere, coz you can't get through. Their Twitter Account on the other hand, is there for all the world to see - this being the case, instead of reading the Daily papers whilst not answering the fcking phone to get shouted at, the displeasure you're displaying via twitter is there for all to see - so they do actually respond (probably not much quicker) but at least you know someone's got a record of your problem with them.

In another context, when we're doing trade shows, we're monitoring certain keywords on Twitter - we can analyse this information in real time and see what topics have hit the mark and what haven't we then use this to change our messaging accordingly...

At a private level, it's shoite.

Maybe it's going to be the only way to get a Dr's Appt within three weeks, or to find an A&E Dept that's not got a 6 hour wait. :-)

If you haven't got the right message, then adding the wrong message to more channels will just expedite the speed with which a wide audience will know you look a right cnut. So it might have an upside. :-)

Yesterday, I had something of a health 'episode' which resulted in a ride in an ambulance. Talking to the paramedic, he was telling me that one of their 'Frequent Flyer's' rings up at around 2am every few weeks complaining of chest pains. They drive quickly the 8 miles to get to him within the 8 minute target and then take him under blues n twos to the hospital. 5 minutes later, he discharges himself and walks the 2 minutes to hs flat. Saves him 15 quid for a taxi. There is nothing they can do about it.

Scudamore said: “At the end of the day there’s a thing called the living wage but there’s also a minimum wage, and politicians do have the power to up that minimum wage. That’s entirely for the politicians to do, that’s not for us to do.”
Asked whether it made him uncomfortable to see clubs paying some players “half-a-million pounds a week” while other members of staff earned below the living wage, Scudamore said: “No, it doesn’t make me uncomfortable".
Tosser!

Hope you're OK, Bijou Bob.
The ambos here use the same term for 'regulars' without bookings. Trying on that sort of thing here though would be a bit fraught as you could well finish up in a hospital that wasn't your target.

Having spent 25 minutes waiting with someone for an ambulance for a genuine emergency recently, I can't say how much that really, really pisses me off.

I dealt with a job just yesterday ( I interview drivers for ins companies ) Road collision in Ashton, car -v- motorcycle, biker with leg injuries. He was telling me the Police arrived an hour later and the ambulance ten minutes after that. Seems to be the norm these days.

This shit spouted by an Islington council spokesperson in an interview about why they don't have pork in their catering contracts:

""Young children, some as young as four-years-old, of different religious and ethnic backgrounds may not know which foods contain pork, or may not realise the importance of avoiding it due to their culture or beliefs,” the council was quoted as saying."

Amazing when you find out there are some people with a more warped view of the world isn't it?

Long live the Multi Culti, young Kim il 'fat boy' and his team of correctors would be proud.

On another note it appears the Italians are finally waking up to the threat the 'boat people' could be,
Italian Defence Minister Roberta Pinotti said in an interview with Il Messaggero newspaper Sunday that the risk of jihadists arriving in Italy on boats carrying immigrants from Libya “could not be ruled out”.
She said Italy was ready to lead a coalition from Europe and north African states to battle against the advance of jihadists in Libya.
“The risk is imminent, we cannot wait any longer. Italy has national defence needs and cannot have a caliphate ruling across the shores from us,” Pinotti said.
Italian Prime Minister Matteo Renzi told public television on Saturday that Rome was committed to intervening in Libya, and called for a stronger United Nations mission.
“We have told Europe and the international community that we have to stop sleeping,” he said.
An outbreak of sense at last we cannot fix the world just make sure they stay out of ours!

Just tell him his local hospital's full of emergencies and take him about fifty miles away to another and drop him off. Let his relations sort it out.

In fairness, he cites the Telegraph of being a bunch of bastards regarding quite a few things. The only thing that surprises me, is that he believes politically motivated articles amount to "integrity" - in one sense they are, I suppose, they appeal to a readership that wants to read that particular political stance on a story (no different than the Guardian might do for a Labour story). There are very few publications that aren't motivated by something other than purely objective reporting...there's always a slant.
