Yeah, didn't strike me as being the sort of light hearted comedy I was expecting, and seems to more in the vein of Breaking Bad that I thought it might be.General Mannerheim wrote:watched it this morning. wasnt very optimistic before so was delighted with the outcome. just grinning throughout and left with that 'this is gonna be mega' feeling you got after the first ep of breaking bad! couple of familiar cameos in there too. quality!clapton is god wrote:Not tonight but soonest thereafter:
'Better Call Saul' starts tonight in the US and is available on Netflix here from tomorrow.
By all accounts its a good 'un.

I've also been watching the latest series of 'Girls'. I quite like it, but at this point, find most of the characters highly unlikeable.

yes me too. not enough Adam in this series, but i do like Shosh, shes adorable and Ray cracks me up.
the rest, i suppose youre not supposed to like? that Marnie is the most annoying character of any tv show ever, despite being absolute filth.

blimey - i heard that live and despite having spoken to you, never had the slightest inkling it was you!!!bobo the clown wrote:Listening to ..... me. On the Danny Baker show.
Subject - obstacles on a football pitch.
My input - the pitch in Dewsbury late 1970's with an oak tree as one of the corner flags .....with a goat tethered to it.
Just listened. It was OK. ...26m and 1hr 41m in. My voice is very non-descript Northern.
big week for you then - as I see you also had quite a big role in Casualty on Saturday - a feature clown called BOBO - written in big letters on his hat...

I'll tell you what I watched last night - Death in the Caribbean, or somesuch. What a complete and utter pile of shit. The 'acting' was that wooden and the delivery so contrived that had I turned the picture off and left the sound on I could've mistaken it for Scooby Do.
Absolutely fecking dreadful stuff.

Was it Death in Paradise? If it is, you are correct.Bruce Rioja wrote:I'll tell you what I watched last night - Death in the Caribbean, or somesuch. What a complete and utter pile of shit. Watched the first ep of Ascension, space age thing. Enjoyed it, looks promising. Not going to bother with Death in the Mid Atlantic or whatever it's called.

Latest episode of The Musketeers. The B.B.C always do period stuff very well. This is no exception: Good acting, good atmosphere, props, scenery and locations, lavish in parts. They are, of course, using full-bore artistic licence with the stories, but it's all enjoyable stuff and I'll be sorry when the series ends.

Yesterday afternoon, watched What's Eating Gilbert Grape. A sound enough tale and a decent way to while away two hours. However, I must say, that a young Leonardo DiCaprio's depiction of a boy with a developmental disability has to rank amongst the finest acting performances that I've ever seen. Absolutely brilliant.

Re: What are you watching tonight?
i was watching 'Steve Peat - Wont Back Down' documentary again this morning. im certain that thats a brilliant brilliant film despite my bias about the topic. Another film ive watched a couple of times lately is Begin Again, which is a bit schmaltzy but for some reason i find it really endearing and Mark Ruffalo never disappoints. also current award noms, Whiplash, Boyhood and Birdman are my stand outs (in that order). Pride was a big 'punch the air' favourite last year too, just out on DVD.Bruce Rioja wrote:General - I'm down to six on my list. Any 'must sees'?
stick Frank, Belle, Babadook, Nightcrawler on your list, and dont let your prejudice prevent you from seeing Guardians of the Galaxy! its mega!

Re: What are you watching tonight?
Hello Ladies - the movie. was alright. apparently the movie idea was a compromise when they didnt renew it for a 2nd series. id have preferred a 2nd series. The 1st was great.
the film is a bit too 'glossy romantic comedy' predictable and lacking the classic winces and the awkwardness of the tv show. Some funny moments, the dirty talk especially cracked me up and some nice cameos too. If anything it just wraps up the story lines from the series.
The 3rd episode of Better Call Saul had a lot to live up to, and failed tbf. but its still great and cant wait for the next one.

Can't remember if i've posted this but...
watched a fair few episodes of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia on the plane over. Absolutely crazy, often infantile and puerile, but by god it made me laugh.

Nero fiddles while Gordon Burns.

I love that show. (Most of it's on Netflix if you have it). If you're after something similar, try 'Trailer Park Boys' out too.KeyserSoze wrote:Can't remember if i've posted this but...
