Re: Today I'm angry about.....
Two of my ex friends constantly posted their stuff and just couldn't or wouldn't see the issue with it. If they're that fecking stupid, they don't deserve my time or energy. Binned both.

Not quite sure where this one's come from, but by the same principle, shouldn't you only need a lambretta?Hoboh wrote:Why look at me like I have two heads when I suggest the car really shouldn't look like its been on the Dakar rally when just going to the shops

It came from 'the cars dirty and needs cleaning', despite the fact I haven't used it and its been nowhere.Worthy4England wrote:Not quite sure where this one's come from, but by the same principle, shouldn't you only need a lambretta?Hoboh wrote:Why look at me like I have two heads when I suggest the car really shouldn't look like its been on the Dakar rally when just going to the shops

Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

This makes me angry. This example shows what a joke the justice system is in the UK. Why are we still living in the dark ages swearing on the bible or other religious book?

Not sure what you're referring to Malc, but the oath is tied in with the rules of perjury:malcd1 wrote:This makes me angry. This example shows what a joke the justice system is in the UK. Why are we still living in the dark ages swearing on the bible or other religious book?

Re: Today I'm angry about.....
not sure it is the dark ages - any more than swearing on anything is - though I've never really seen the value of swearing "on" anything - bible, mother's grave... blah-blah-blah.. we're either gonna tell the truth or not - swearing an oath to do sao won't make the blindest bit of difference.malcd1 wrote:This makes me angry. however - what makes it even more odd (in my opinion) is that the Bible fairly expressly counsels AGAINST swearing oaths in any form at all... (Matt. 5:34-37)
Again, you have heard that it was said to the people long ago, ‘Do not break your oath, but fulfill to the Lord the vows you have made.’ But I tell you, do not swear an oath at all: either by heaven, for it is God’s throne; or by the earth, for it is his footstool; or by Jerusalem, for it is the city of the Great King. And do not swear by your head, for you cannot make even one hair white or black. All you need to say is simply ‘Yes’ or ‘No’.

All true, but swearing an oath, as I said, tied in with the Perjury ruling means that refusing to to do so is classed as Contempt of Court. You can be fined consistently until you comply, or even go to prison.thebish wrote:

Interesting. Is there a humanist oath (or whatever) for non-believers, do we know?TANGODANCER wrote:All true, but swearing an oath, as I said, tied in with the Perjury ruling means that refusing to to do so is classed as Contempt of Court.
