Re: The athletics/running thread
Joined the gym last week, after what is probably 3 months of no exercise and considerable excess. Did my first boxing circuit training thing at lunch today. F*ck. Me.
Still, I've rolled back to the bottom of the hill, good to start climbing it again

Yeay. My quickest run round the new PR track by 40 seconds. Closing in on the PB
Great to see Enfield and Genshaw, as well as BP and LE, of course.

Well done Bruce. Another 12 seconds off my PB and now sub 29 mins. Wonder how much quicker we might have been had the conditions been better??Bruce Rioja wrote:Yeay. My quickest run round the new PR track by 40 seconds. Closing in on the PB

I had to wonder what I was doing standing there at 8.50am in my shorts, freezing my bollocks off, but it was all worthwhile in the end.

Well done chaps, great effort. Good to see you all again. I was surprised to find that was my first outing at park run in nearly a year. Pb on the full English tooBurnden Paddock wrote:Well done Bruce. Another 12 seconds off my PB and now sub 29 mins. Well done guys. Nice to see everyone (and meet a few more. Sorry I had to shoot off. That was my worst time but my best run on that course. Very pleased to have got round and the knee not giving me any gip.
Promise I'll make Sainsbury's next time.

Bruce and I spotted a rival breakfast venue on the way home. Ainsworth Arms (formerly The Three Arrows) on Bolton and Bury Road. Unlimited breakfast for £3.99 and unlimited tea/coffee for £1.99 In the wrong direction for you lot, but hey ho!

Proper Bobby Dazzlers them Bruce. The kind of shoe, that if it were a football boot, could cost someone a man of the match award

Re: The athletics/running thread
First attempt at a 5k in a long, loong time this week. On a treadmill, so not proper so to speak, but managed 26.20ish
Not too fussed with that given how unhealthy i had been for the last four months. Reckon 25 mins is the target for next week, then after that hoping to get to and below pb level (22.40 iirc). Futsal tournament tomorrow should help no end!

Well done Bruce, and another pb for BP I believe. Nice one. Used my extra hour in bed to go over to Rivington. A lovely hour was had, plodding through the mud and fog. If either of you fancy a nice steady run on the fells, give me a shout

Double (triple) booked myself this morning. Marshalling our handicap (our equivalent of the Parkrun) followed by helping the beginners runners and then 4.5 miles round a muddy hilly course accompanying a friend who I've promised a run with for a while. All told I've done about 6 miles. Knackered. But happy.
Well done on another pb BP.

Re: The athletics/running thread
Cheers Gary! Another 40 seconds taken off and now down to 28:13 which is an improvement of 2.5 mins in the last 4 weeks. Really chuffed with my progress, but bloody hell, my legs aren't half aching today.Gary the Enfield wrote:Double (triple) booked myself this morning.
