That's a bit of a din (sorry DrH too)KeyserSoze wrote:New Lightening Bolt album is streaming

My first gig was Motorhead on the Bomber Tour - this makes them sound like a well tuned Gospel Choir...
I've followed a few of the posted links over the last few weeks and I need to ask. Are you two completely tone deaf?

Re: What are you playing tonight?
Lenny White - I could listen to, although I think it's a bit Camel/Marillion/Prog Rock for my taste (or certainly Astral Pirates anyhow), not much listened to since...I generally think I'm in the same place in terms of what they're trying to achieve etc. I am thinking after listening to a bit of New Lightning Bolt and Orthelm, there might be a market to make some money out there (time to fire Cubase up and get some down)...9 minutes (well that's as far as I got) of Orthelm is enough to convince me that they're clueless chancers, but good luck to them, if they can crowbar real money out of folks for it!Dr Hotdog wrote:Worthy4England wrote:That's a bit of a din (sorry DrH too)KeyserSoze wrote:New Lightening Bolt album is streaming

Right now I'm listening to some Lenny White (nice slabs of funky jazz-rock fusion). I can give anything the time of day - as long as I can see what they're trying to achieve and how they're going about it. I don't suffer musical fools gladly. That last thing I linked (Orthrelm) - I remember walking out of one of their gigs in 2003 because I just couldn't take it (they were supporting The Locust - who are frenetic madmen (madder than Lightening Bolt with deranged Moog jolts here and there)). I'd stand and watch them all day if I had that opportunity again! Free yo' mind and don't let any bullshit get the better of you

Been a while, old friend.
In a world that has decided
That it's going to lose its mind
Be more kind, my friends, try to be more kind.

Should I give it a whirl, Dr H?

Re: What are you playing tonight?
You might be pleasantly surprised. It's got structure and focus...!
If you're on spotify or owt like that you can probably stream their 90s albums.

All of it !?

Re: What are you playing tonight?
Yep. They produced some excellent but sadly neglected output. Their new stuff sounds good. I'm hopeful they can get enough buzz to justify a full UK Tour soon.Worthy4England wrote:Credit where it's due. Not too shoddy!Dr Hotdog wrote:You might be pleasantly surprised. Meanwhile, last week I went to watch Oozing Wound in a small basement club in Leeds.

Re: What are you playing tonight?
I started a blog a long time ago, mostly about music, and this summer I'm going to try and be a bit more prolific. Review some gigs and albums and rant about stuff I don't like.
The other night I went to see Kayo Dot and they blew me away with their sublime dexterity.
Here's the blog:
