In 1964 I played football for both Brownlow Fold in Saturday League and Mount Street Tavern in the Sunday League, Monty. Brownlow Fold school was about fifty yards from the Queens and our football local. In 1964 it didn't look anything like that picture. That was my query.
I know - I was just adding data to support your theory.
Ah, right, apologies. It must actually have been some time before 1964 (63-64 the years of the big freeze, no League football for three months, didn't stop us though) :D My auntie lived in Darley Street and there was a back street before the Queens at that time. I do remember The Woodman pub though. GTE might remember, or as I said W.T.W.?

Don't remember either of these. I lived on Eskrick Street (opposite the Bowling Green) between 1970 and 1980 so only knew the City Hotel down that end. Moved to Astley Bridge in 1980 until I moved down her in '89

I realised the other day I've lived in the South longer than I lived in Bolton (26 years to 22). Pass me the Shandy!

From 1963 to 1970 or so, I lived in Elgin Street. Prior to that ( apart from two years) I spent all my time around Halliwell. I remember the Junction of Eskrick Street/ Elgin Street as having Hanbury's on one corner and the St Thomas's vicarrage wall on the other across on the corner of Harold Street. Opposite Hanbury's on Eskrick was a barber shop set back a bit ( then the Bowling Green) and a newsagents facing that on the Harold Street other corner. The link pic I posted must have been like that at one time, but it certainly wasn't 1964.

Oh really, Facebook? 'Add your phone number to help secure your account and more.

Do these people have everyone down as being that thick?

Britain first seem to have proven they are Bruce. Along with fairies who make your wishes come true and the great new discovery in cancer treatment discovered recently, the sharing of images of kids with cancer which effects a miracle cure.

Yes, good point. Hey, if you don't share this then you're in favour of animal cruelty.

Given all the crap on Facebook, I'd say there is probably a significant proportion who are way thicker than adding their phone numbers. I'd have a punt at credit card details, too.

But how else would I pay for the £15 genuine Ray-Bans that I've just ordered? Answer me that, Buddy Boy! :D

I'd just like to thank Bruce and others who recommended MOMA in Noo Yoik as a place to visit. Had a great morning wandering round, feeling like a complete peasant and mouthing W.T.F??! to myself.

That bloke Mondrian was surely just taking the pish and reading some of the descriptions at the side of works gave me the impression (Ho, ho) that if ever there was a case of the Emperor's new clothes, this pretentious cap is surely it. Interesting and thought provoking although not perhaps in the way they meant me to.

They must've removed the Jackson Pollock stuff if you consider Mondrian the worst offender on that score! I'd also chuck anything and everything by Yoko Ono in for the award too, along with whoever's responsible for the two course of firebricks (Accentuating the horizontallity of the floor? Oh do feck off!). But yes, plenty (thankfully most of) the stuff in there I found to be pretty mesmerising. Especially the stuff by Picasso.

Ah yes the bricks. Not quite as bad as the rubber mat, formed into a peak I felt!

You've been ripped off, I got my definitely genuine ray bans when I was on holiday in Turkey for £3.

So that's the latest way crazy dictators remove their adversaries.

I wonder how James Bond would deal with it as its certainly quicker than having your bollox burnt off with a laser or a collapsing walkway into a fish tank full of sharks.

Anti-aircraft fire?! Jesus wept. Pity the f*cker on clean-up duty!

I've just read a bit more about it. Apparently obliterating people so that there isn't even a body for the family to bury is fat lad's way of completely removing every trace of their existence. Unbelievable, Geoff.
