Not a facility I ever had need to go onto. Horrible. Sooner or later there will be a real reaction to all this and I guess that's what they want.
Tunisia now, in one of the string of 5* hotels on the coast at Sousse.
My goodness the Arab Spring was a great success wasn't it !?
Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

Clearly there is now a lot less death in the world, because they've all sorted themselves out, with minimal foreign intervention. Bravo!

Some countries need dictatorship. The more benevolent the better but nonetheless.
For all the horrors of Saddam and Ghadaffi the countries were in some form of check. It's now clear what they were holding back.

I dunno - Empires worked quite well, too.

You could have said that about us in the 17th Century. We seem to have got the hang of it eventually though.bobo the clown wrote:I do indeed and agreeing with you only to be told we were old cynics.Worthy4England wrote:I can recall not being as optimistic as some on here around how great that particular re-incarnation was.bobo the clown wrote:My goodness the Arab Spring was a great success wasn't it !?

The problem with the C17th century thingy was that the mediaeval minds didn't have modern weapons, communications or transport with which to carry the perverse thinking through.

Re: News Headlines
So your quote might better have read, "we need some countries to have dictatorships", then?

Re: News Headlines
According to the Beeb, there are 20,000 Brits due to fly to Tunisia in the next 4 weeks. I'm wondering how that decision making process went??
"Right darling, where should we take the children on holiday this year"?
"Tunisia's cheap innit. Is that somewhere near Spain?" .
No you half wit, it's an Islamic state right next door to Libya. You know, that place on the news full of migrants, the one with no government and Islamic state on the doorstep. Safe as houses.
Having said that, one of NMB'S colleagues (A £50kpa manager) had to ask who Islamic State were in a discussion yesterday. I sh*t you not.
