I've done plenty stuff drunk but never chinned anyone for supporting sheff utd!
In fairness, on the one hand there were two separate incidents, which is bad, but he also seemed to show contrition. I'm generally for second chances.
What I would say is that people who think the fact he was a violent arsehole when drink = hard man when sober know f*ck all about alcohol and violence.

Well you seem to have half an opinion about drugs...Prufrock wrote:I've done plenty stuff drunk but never chinned anyone for supporting sheff utd!

What's your opinion about drink, violence and then making a judgement on Madine as to how tough he is on the pitch.
I'm prepared to make a prediction and say your opinion will amount to f**k all and be of no worth.

I didn't say that you've ever chinned anyone. If I were you, I wouldn't either. You mentioned being a dick whilst drunk.Prufrock wrote:I've done plenty stuff drunk but never chinned anyone for supporting sheff utd!

Easy to do when you are in court, knowing that you're likely to go to prison.Prufrock wrote:I've done plenty stuff drunk but never chinned anyone for supporting sheff utd!

Whilst drunk ? Do we need to be so specific ?Bruce Rioja wrote:I didn't say that you've ever chinned anyone. If I were you, I wouldn't either. You mentioned being a dick whilst drunk.Prufrock wrote:I've done plenty stuff drunk but never chinned anyone for supporting sheff utd!

Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

Re: Gary Madine
meanwhile - does anyone actually KNOW if he is a "hardman" kind of player on the pitch?

dodging a question, how unlike you!thebish wrote:meanwhile - does anyone actually KNOW if he is a "hardman" kind of player on the pitch?
he is 6'3 and is a centre forward. he is described as a target man. now to me, that means he must have a certain amount of toughness about him to regularly contest balls against centre halves. that in itself would suggest to me that he has a good amount of 'toughness' about him.
hardman? what are you expecting fecking mike tyson?
Re: Gary Madine
He seems to be a younger less injured version of Craig Davies, physical presence rather than hard man is my impression. Whether he will work as hard as cravies remains to be seen.

Re: Gary Madine
Aye, and that was his version. He's a little more extreme at it than you or me, I'd venture!Bruce Rioja wrote:I didn't say that you've ever chinned anyone. If I were you, I wouldn't either. Re: Gary Madine
My opinion is that drink and violence off the pitch have absolutely no bearing on whether Madine will be "tough" on the pitch. In the same way that SKD could have a finger popped back in without wincing doesn't mean he's likely to kick someone's head in after a babycham.jaffka wrote:Well you seem to have half an opinion about drugs...Prufrock wrote:I've done plenty stuff drunk but never chinned anyone for supporting sheff utd!

Re: Gary Madine
I recall the moaning we used to be doing about SKD and his ability in the air Vs his ability on the deck. Since when we've had a succession of front players who couldn't win a header and had fck all on the deck either (generally) - I'd like someone who was excellent in both departments, but would settle for someone who could do a bit of both...

We should of give Craig Davies a new deal when he played this season we won themajority of the time, just a shame about his fitness

Re: Gary Madine
That's like saying we should have renewed Sean Davis contract because we did well when he played.
Cravies was likeable and hard working, but ultimately a sick note of extremely limited ability. Take away the injury record and pay him a couple of k a week then he'd be worth keeping.

aye - that sounds possible and reasonable. Zat knight was tall, Peter crouch was a target man - but neither would have been described as a "hard man" on the pitch. bringing steel and balls and grit and determination to a team isn't always the same as the ability to nice person someone in a pub whilst drunk.
it seems - despite the waffle - nobody on here actually knows... I suspect many (like me) had not even heard of him until this last week.
if he actually signs on the dotted - then I guess time will tell!

I can remember Neil McNab tw@tting a Leeds player in the centre circle of Burnden Park. I've forgotten who it was, but both of them squared up and had a right good do
we were all cheering - (especially coz he connected with a couple of good uns that ricky hatton would have been proud of)
its good to have a bit of steel in the middle of the park
and not that many people came on here moaning when Dioufy gave his missus a crack either
Hes done what hes done, paid the price - now we should leave him to get on with doing his stuff on the pitch
