Never fear, Dan. I seem to recall in the mid-1960s on this very ground against NZ England opener John Edrich batted for more than two days scoring some 300 + not out. His opening partner (Lancashire captain Bob Barber) went early but he was then partnered with Surrey teammate Ken Barrington. They batted all day and much of the next.bwfcdan94 wrote:Fingers crossed the heavens open tomorrow, if they don't Cook and Lyth need to make it to lunch if were to hold on.

padding it out for a day is the last thing I expect us to be able to do... (well, apart from slogging it out and winning!)Bruce Rioja wrote:Last day, today. I suspect we'll kind of half go for it and get skittled just after tea...

Aye, true enough. By the way, Trevor Bayliss. Didn't he invent the wind-up radio?

Re: Cricket: New Zealand at home
Nothing too unexpected and probably fair enough. It was all okay till their second innings; they dug in and scored and we couldn't get them out. Their persistence paid off and we need a look at a few positions. Always liked Ian Bell, but he's coming across as jaded, has been for a while. Ali isn't much of a batsmen and when we get to our tail end it's always "wham, bam, thank you maam" Good show by a very sporting Kiwi side.

Elation after the first test win and then dragged back into reality with a right big feckin kick in the bollox with this defeat.
